There are some big hitters who own hotels which are not AIs. The Vicinis own a lot in the Colonial Zone and Macarulla was a director of Hodelpa. It's not just AIs who have important voices

Every year my wife and I take a couple 3 or 4 night stays at an AI. We find it nice to get away for a few days and let someone else cook and pour the drinks. The last few years we noticed that more and more tourists were leaving the resort for daytime excursions. The younger ones tended to go out a night for the Imagine Cave party and the Coco Bongo party but that's pretty much gone with the curfew.

We have also travelled to Jaribacoa and used VRBO's but prefer the AI. Keep in mind we only go to the adult only hotels or sections of as I can't stand watching little spoiled kids touching food and running around. That is like hell to me.

Just a thought, but perhaps the curfews should have been restricted to these types all along.
100% agreed.
I wonder if crime will increase once these politicians decide its time to turn the lights back on.

Yes, inevitably it will. Such is life.
But, when it does elevate it's evil head, the new administration needs to hack it off Balaguer style.
1, 2.....and 3 is never heard. 💪

The director of the National Police, Major General Edward Sánchez González, said that 1,200 men of the National Police will be integrated in addition to the new curfew schedule that begins this Monday, as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Sánchez González explained that the Police are prepared for the new curfew schedule and that restrictive and preventive measures will be strengthened, while ensuring that the additional 1,200 police officers will be disseminated nationwide and a large part in Greater Santo Domingo.

His statements originated at the time he visited the Mayor's Office of Boca Chica, where he was received by the mayor of that municipality, an engineer Fermín Brito Rincón, who led an act together with community members and social clubs that requested the intervention of the police chief.

He said that every day the members of the uniformed are giving everything for everything to promote the control required by the Public Health authorities, in search of reducing the spread and contamination of the Coronavirus in the country.

He called on the population to comply with the measures required by the authorities, to adopt a curfew, wear a mask and submit to the order of social distancing.

"I want citizens to understand that our development and the future of the country depend on the awareness that our citizens adopt, that this is a health issue and a life issue and we must all collaborate together so that the country can overcome this pandemic" so said Edward Sánchez González, director of the National Police.

The municipal authorities' request is due to a wave of robberies and robberies that has re-emerged in the tourist town, and which is aggravated by the blackouts that originate at night, accompanied by a curfew.

The police director delivered several motorcycles and vans to reinforce the patrol in all neighborhoods of the Municipality of Boca Chica and was emphatic in threatening the commanders that if they do not comply with their police duties they will be removed and replaced by others who do the job. .

Excellent. A little drinking and posting never
killed anyone. We ain't out of the woods yet.
The Covid freaks are threatening to shut it down
again if people don't obey their commands.

Although the Government has not issued any decree to formalize the time change in the curfew that seeks to avoid the massive contagion by Covid-19, citizens are preparing for their tasks in making that measure more flexible.

From tomorrow, the curfew will be from 9:00 at night until 5:00 in the morning and on weekends from 7:00 at night until 5:00 in the morning.

The president of the Valverde section of the Dominican Medical College (CMD), Juan Carlos Santos, considered the Government’s measure to make the curfew more flexible and even more so in Mao and other areas municipalities in that province where Covid-19 it continues to rise and cause deaths.

However, President Luis Abinader justified the curfew schedule’s relaxation, stating that the level of coronavirus contagion in the country has decreased by 14 percent.

“We, due to the statistics in relation to Covid-19, have seen that the contagion has dropped by 14 percent,” said the president.

As an indicator that the prevalence of the virus has dropped, Abinader pointed out that 27% of hospital beds destined for patients with COVID-19 are occupied, 35% of the Intensive Care Units (ICU) 22% of the fans.

Likewise, the head of state said that the decision to relax the restrictions imposed was made in coordination with the Health Cabinet, headed by Vice President Raquel Peña, where the statistics provided were considered.

The Minister of Public Health, Plutarco Arias, said that the downward trend will depend on citizen behavior from now on and that if a recurrence arises, it will “go backward.”

The announcement was made during a joint press conference. The director of the National Health Service (SNS) called for the maintenance of social distancing measures and masks on a mandatory basis.

No doubt.
Life is tough in the big city.

So it shouldn't be too hard to understand why those with compromised health wish to put off getting sick for as long as they can, hopefully until there is an effective treatment. These people certainly don't deserve the pounding they are given by some.
