I have a small question which has perhaps already been asked , but I dont recall seeing it ..

At WHAT Percentage Point , of the Population being VACCINATED ... will the Vaccinated such as those potsing here , FINALLY FEEL SAFE enough to NOT Care about the people who are still UN vaccinated ..

If they could just kindly throw a # out there .. like 70 %, 80 90 99 99.999 % ?

When will you finally Feel SAFE among the remaining " UN clean"..

cant wait to hear this .

Whatever the bear comment even means. You looking for a date? LOL (I'm sure you're used to rejection)

The thing about science is that it evolves as new and different data becomes known and proven.

Insisting on sticking to outdated thinking is the mark of wanna be pseudoscientists. Real, actual, educated, scientists and experts change their minds and opinions all the time as things change.

Turkmenistan is now the first country in the world where a COVID vaccine is mandatory for those 18 or older. Apparently those under 18 must be immune from the virus.

And the vaccine is either the placebo Si No Vac or the Sputnik. Of course they do this……even after the country has not reported a single death from COVID. Interpret that how you will.

So the DR now has cover to really really really insist…….not just insist, that all are vaccinated……..no matter how many vaccinations it takes, whether they are effective or not, or what vaccines they mix and match and what effects they have both short and long term.

If they really want compliance, they should offer US tourist visas to all those vaccinated.

You're beginning to understand.
Abinader and his government want Dominicans to get vaccinated, to protect Dominicans and their communities.
If they had balls, they would only allow twice vaccinated tourists to enter the DR.

Talk to your high level US contacts (or were they Estonians?) to issue visas to twice vaccinated Dominicans,
Because even you know, that gob.do can't issue them.
Let us know how it goes.

If they did that, they would convince the world how brainless they really are.

Exactly.

They have about as much chance of getting the population fully vaccinated with a real vaccine (0) as they do to issue visas to the US (0).

To show your superior intelligence and that of your anti vaccination friends,
Why don't you guys organize a global protest against covid19.
Surely the virus will get scared and disappear.

Meanwhile I will be watching what will happen from now to next Summer in the world with covid infections.
Enjoy the Olympics, hope your team wins.

Turkmenistan, eh? How far could the DR be behind that leading world country?

Speaking of CV19, the world markets have a fear of Delta India Bravo as new restrictions to tourism happen.
The DR will be instead be the leader with the opening of Altagracia Province in the next few days because of FM.

Anyone tried to rent a car in the US lately? Crazy prices. And now this 2% dip in the markets:

That was yesterday,
Today the markets are up again, the DOW + 1.76% at the moment.
You can expect the markets to remain choppy in the near future, some steps ahead some back.

It seems obvious to you how covid is affecting all of us in many ways, and will continue to do so for a while.

Your idea to forget about covid and open everything up without control, vaccinations or restrictions will only introduce more uncertainty and losses.
Global heard immunity is a long way off.
The suffering in developing countries and India with millions dead is obvious and will effect the whole world economy.
The question is, will countries allow air arrivals from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brazil to name just a few?
Covid has increased shipping and production costs including food, all of which is passed on to consumers.
Consider buying stocks in companies that can pass those increases on to consumers.:)
Just kidding, I know you are gainfully retired in Paradise.

Yes, about triple of what they were a year and a half ago at MIA. Hotels are up about 25%.
So much for the theories that things will get cheaper after lockdowns and super travel bargains whether hotels or flights.

I did however get a great A.I. at RIU Republica Punta Cana hotel only - for two one week, for August 5 USD 1081 taxes included.
The Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa is up in price.

Abinader and his government now will have to balance the spread of covid in the DR, with the need of tourism revenues and jobs.
No easy solution for him, other than encouraging Dominicans to get vaccinated.

The influx of US tourists should be of concern to the DR.

The Delta variant of the coronavirus now accounts for an estimated 83% of all new sequenced COVID-19 cases in the US, the CDC director said.

Delta variant: ‘A perfect storm is brewing’ in certain parts America, health official explains

According to CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, the Delta variant now accounts for83% of all COVID cases in the U.S., a 33% increase from two weeks ago. Walensky added that 99.5% of all COVID-related deaths in the country over recent months have been among unvaccinated Americans.

Current COVID-19 hot spots in the U.S. include Missouri, Arkansas, and Florida, according to the Mayo Clinic, highlighting Parekh's point. Florida now leads the U.S. in COVID cases, accounting for roughly 20% of all new infections in the country.

'What I'm most worried about is disinformation'

Most of the remaining unvaccinated Americans haven’t budged from their positionsof opting out of the vaccine.
Social media plays a major role in disseminating disinformation.
“At the end of the day, Americans will have to decide for themselves,” Parekh said. “I hope that everyone gets vaccinated, but Americans should have the facts to make the decision. But disinformation, when you have actors out there that are willingly falsifying information, I think absolutely private sector partners such as the tech industry need to take steps. They need to be public about the steps they’re taking.”

'Vaccination is really our route out of this pandemic'

While disinformation continues spreading, more and more vulnerable Americans are falling ill to the virus.

Hospitalizations are up 45% and deaths are up 75% over the span of the past two weeks, despite testing decreasing by 13%. The pace of vaccinations has begun to flatten out as well.
