Haiti is the reason the unification with the DR isn’t more advanced?

If it wasn’t most Haitians in the DR wouldn’t be there, at least not as illegals. It’s beyond a fact that most Haitians that enter the DR as illegal immigrants not only never leave, but no one kicks them out either and that’s despite the deportations (many times of the same people as their returning to the DR almost as soon they are deported.) They enter and most continue to live in the DR until they die. 99% of illegal immigrants in the DR are Haitians. Not even the US has such a large percentage of its illegals are from one country.

It’s comical how many expats on DR1 pretend they amount to anything in the DR compared to the illegal immigrants from Haiti. In fact, it’s in the homes of many expats that the gardener, the driver, the maids, etc often are Haitians. Care to mention one Haitian household where at leasr a made is an expat?
I agree with most of what you say, and I agree that many undocumented Haitians live here long term, but you must be aware that there are hundreds of illegal Haitians deported daily while there are no gringo deportations unless they commit some dire crime. I used to have a Haitian gardener, but he had legal documentation to be here. Not so any more, because after being here legally for over fifteen years he can't renew his visa in a timely fashion.

You have a "pick and choose" mentality when it comes obeying the law. You are steadfast in supporting immigration laws yet advocate for drug usage and dealing. You are also against pay for play in Sosua on the North Coast which is legal. It is your absolute right to be a flip flopper. Immigration is a complex problem that will not be solved, ever! A child born here from an illegal entry is very difficult to deport.

On no post has Windy supported the selling of illegal drugs.
Wrong!!! As usual.

I wonder what the posters taking such a hard line and narrow view would do if they faced the same issues that many Haitians do. It would be very interesting to see many of you deported to Haiti and to see if and how you would survive. If you could which I doubt.

The world is not a warm and fuzzy place.
I'll tell you the same thing I tell Haitians who ask me for money, try to sell me drugs,
try selling me a stolen cell phone, try hooking me up with an underage girl, ect..

Your problems are your problems, my problems are my problems.
My problems aint your problems and your problems aint my problems.
Problem solved.

In fourteen years of living here, no Haitian has ever proposed any of those things to me, except ask me for money. Same applies to Dominicans, actually.

Perhaps you could answer the question posed in the post.

I am sure that the majority here would not have a clue but it’s still a good exercise to put yourself in the position of those you are so quick to dismiss.

This goes for the rest of the hardliners. Chances are you can’t but you should still try. It’ll be humbling and we all benefit from that

How would you know if there were any Gringo deportations? Really, it's both a numbers issue and a use of government supplied aid. There are thousands upon thousands of illegal Haitians, many using public hospitals and Pharmacies, and schools. There are probably less than a couple of thousand, if that many, illegal Gringos and they don't use government provided services. There is the fact that the Haitian government and Haitian people are traditionally not friends of the Dominican Republic.

Sure…. Please tell us how. Be as detailed as you can. Perhaps you can teach some of us.
No one needs to apologize to you for being successful and explain to you what hard work and sacrifice is.

"humbling" lol, hard work and sacrifice is humbling. Try it, instead of slighting those that have studied and worked for decades.

Enough of the back and forth.

Haitians are to blame for Haiti's problems. The sooner they accept this truth the sooner they can start working towards solving Haiti's problems.

Personally I do not believe they (collectively) are intelligent enough to achieve this on their own as they have repeatedly shown the rest of the world they are not.

Short of being re-colonized they will never have a functioning country again.

Oh member Big,

I worked hard all my life and was sufficiently successful that I have been retired for most of a decade.

I’m free to travel when, where, and for as long as I desire. I unlike you have more than enough and don’t need to work. I’m your worst nightmare; a bleeding heart, educated, long haired, leftwing, socialist, hippy with freedom and all the time in the world.
