"America First!"
All countries would be wise to remember that during diplomatic relations with the current administration running the United States of America.

The strongest move, that Haiti could make would be to hint they are considering inviting China to make infrastructure improvements to their country. Play both sides against the middle and cut the best deal you can. Most world politics is often no better than the devil you know versus the devil you do not know.

The United States of America cares so little about Haiti that the Secretary of State could not even be bother to meet with the President of Haiti in a meeting room during his visit to the Dominican Republic. They stood in the hallway and spoke. In my opinion that was straight up disrespectful and diplomatic dis of the highest order.

So if I was the President of Haiti and the United States of America wanted something from me. I would tell them to I am looking for money for infrastructure development in my country and I am going to sit down with China right after I finish talking to you here in the hallway. They are waiting inside the room. :ROFLMAO:

And when China announces that they are home basing a couple Navy ships in Port-au-Prince...Uncle Sam will add to the herd. :ROFLMAO:
I got no dog in the fight! But I do like it with other countries get right in the face of the government of United States of America and gives them a taste of what it like to only act in their own interest.

Haiti is a failed state that no one can help. Even exploitation is difficult. China likes to trap governments in loans to take over infrastructure and ports. Things that are of value to China's world domination plans. Haiti has no such things of real value. Did I mention Haiti is a failed state that no one can help?

In my opinion many are undervaluing the Port of Port-au-Prince. But I to have nothing to support my conclusion until China announces that they will be basing a couple of Navy ships there. Then the reaction of the government of the United Staes of America will support my point.

Shall we review history together and learn why Haiti is the "George Floyd" of the world?

If I take a car loan and then do not pay it and then my car is repossessed, did the car dealer trap me, the bank, or did I simply make a bad financial decision?

Did I mention that I do not agree with "Haiti has no such things of real value"?

I went once for a day and when I arrived back at Dajabón I thought it was Rome.

Is there any propane or just Dominican leña to cook with?

There is propane but most use charcoal.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the beach around Cap Haitien is horribly polluted. No one swims there. On the other side of the city there is Labadee. Some of it is roped off for cruise ship tourists but natives can still get there. I went on more than one occasion and it's like your Rome comment - an oasis.

China might become involved in Haiti if the Chinese repopulate the entire country. That is about the only way I could see China getting involved.
Someone mentioned that Haiti has a value, disagreeing with my opinion on the failed state of Haiti which is best avoided.

What exact value does Haiti have to China as it stands today?

I didn't say that but I do believe Haiti has value. Many people are desperate for a job. They would be very happy to work in a real company for a real wage. I think you could harness that desire and enthusiasm in a manufacturing environment. The problem is the lack of infrastructure and government corruption. Companies know this and won't invest in Haiti.

From people I know that spent 5 years in Haiti trying to help, it was there opinion that nothing can be done. They left and moved to the DR after realizing how futile it was trying to help.

Someone who likes to repeat themselves over and over again asked: "What exact value does Haiti have to China today?"

Objection: Asked and Answered
Sustained. Move on counselor

Wasn't the United States of America ready to goto nuclear war when another superpower moved into their backyard? Or was everyone sleeping through that part of their history class?

I expect hell to freeze over before China makes such a move, but it is an interesting what if...

What benefits will Haiti receive when Chinese warships move into Port-au- Prince Harbor? The same benefits Cuba gets today from the US?

Now you are asking me to predict what the terms of the future agreement between two nations from actions that have not even occurred yet will produce. And you want me to do it using past history.

I am flattered that you think I am that smart. But I am not. I cannot make that prediction. I am smart enough to know that I cannot do this in a public forum. But if I had enough intelligence information and I was getting paid to do it. Sure, I could make that prediction. But because this is a public forum I still couldn't tell you.:geek:

And for the record it has always been a what if. :ROFLMAO:

Anyone who give Haiti money for infrastructure improvements knows what will happen. The President and his circle will steal it...
Which President are you talking about? The President of Haiti or President Clinton and his Clinton Foundation circle? :)
