Haiti poised for Civil War?
There were Rumors about Gold ... Lots and Lots of Gold .. not that long ago, like 10 years back . and not just the 20 Billion which is known about ..
Go to u Tube , it comes right up.. Al Jazeera had a video on it in 2012
Its not that far fetched of a theory .. The DR is known to have Gold .. why would Haiti not have huge Gold reserves .. just because we dont know where they are .does not mean they dont exist .. The Clintons were also supposedly involved in some kind of swindle .
The Pueblo Viejo mine in the D.R has another 20 to 30 years of reserves. They pay 100s of millions (U.S) in taxes and rights. It's a godsend to the D.R
I don't agree that there is anyone anywhere at any time soon that is capable of that in Haiti.
Well perhaps with a re-education camp. Teach them about reforestation, other horticulture. Proper construction methods?
at the very least teach them French or Spanish so they can have a marketable language
Regarding Haiti and nobody will love her: It gets down to somewhere out there in this universe there is a match for everything and everyone. The ugly girl that hasn't found a mate only needs one person in the universe. Chances are high that they will find each other, somehow. The house that sits on a property that has been for sale for years. Nobody wants it until someone buys all the other houses on the block or in the neighborhood. The plot of land that has been used as the place to throw the community's trash becomes valued when a major thoroughfare is put in and enhances the location.
Haiti is on the ropes. No doubt about it. However, never for a moment do I not think there isn't someone (__________) fill in the blanks, that sees this as the opportunity of a life time. It's the ugly child, the trash heap and a lot more. Yes, but...

Is already known tha there is a big gold reserve located between the 2 countries, and rumors says from the Haitian side that land already has an owner with big power from USA.
would anyone really consider investment in a country that doesn't have a working sewage system.
Its not a theory. The discovery of new gold deposits in the DR created the belief that there might be more gold in Haiti. Then a new gold deposit was discovered in the San Juan Valley and this gave more credence to the belief there might be more gold in Haiti. Why? Because the gold deposits discovered in the San Juan Valley goes on westward past the border into Haiti. Most of the gold deposits found in the DR were discovered in the last 10-20 years and most are currently not mined. Hispaniola already has the most gold deposits in Latin America and there still is probably more gold deposits to be discovered. The belief that lasted centuries that most of the gold on the island was exhausted in the 1500's turns out is nonsense. The Spanish arrived at El Dorado and for centuries didn't even know it, because the gold was literally underneath their feet.

So far the main deposits over there are said to lie in the district of La Miel, which is in the exact middle of a straight line between Restauración and Cerca-la-Source, straddling the borderline between both countries.

It’s the only party in the world with a vested interest in Haiti’s real success.
The only party which is to gain anything out it and the other wing of that bird to take flight.
It would double its economy on less than 10 years if it did so, unlike any other country of interest.
For that to happen two things need to take place under a UN controlled Haiti:
A) A national referendum asking Haitians if they want to become part of the DR but as an autonomous state (keeping the designation of Haiti).
B) The complete clearing of the foreign debt for both Haiti and the DR. Since funds have to come from somewhere other than charity to get the economy going. Coupled with a significant grant funding the basic infrastructure projects under the DR administration.
If Haitians accept in enough numbers of registered voters, the first step is issuing ID cards to all Haitians and keeping the civil registers separated for each country.
Then public order and benefits card like used in the DR for the extreme poor and destitute. Free meals for all students and Spanish as primary language in all education levels.
After that, all possibilities are unlimited for Haiti under a DR constitution and administration.
When Haiti achieves parity or God bless it, even better than the DR side in all levels of indicators, a new referendum asking Haitians if to remain under DR administration or fully detach once again, should take place.
For the DR the benefit is a new equal size market it can expand to quickly. For Haiti is development under a stable administration until it gets itself together.
The hard sale would be the plan to the Dominican People... very, very hard...

Of course it is doable. However it is called assimilation. Did not work in northern Canada with indiginous people. Most have poor or no sewage systems even today.
Then there will be the ones whom dislike Dominicans ... they become the big challenge.
Haiti today is basically a result of poor to no self government. A people unto themselves.
However your solution is not to be mocked.
No doubt there is gold , oil and other non renuable resources that could be exploited...but by whom, to the benefit of Haiti.?
It's also assuming that most Haitians would agree to being subjected to Dominican rule. That is a grave error.

The then president Preval made very public his worry of having the Dominican military in Haiti and in the end, the Dominican military couldn't go past the border. There was no problem with the presence of military men from other countries, only those from the DR. Gee, what was the fear? That Dominicans might take over and rule them? Why does being ruled by their closest neighbor causes such reaction?

Oh please, not another (un) reality show on Discovery. They've already destroyed hundreds, if not thousands of acres in Alaska.

Nothing will happen untill the Haitains reach out. But to whom?
I agree unfortunately, DR and Haiti will have to form a confederacy. No wall is going to stop the Haitian Masses from going in to DR. DR is wasting too much money and resource on Haiti now.
I have no love for Haiti, unlike many, I know our history, I know Haitians have killed my ancestors and how they have wiped out about 30% of DR population in the 1800’s. How they have taken our land, now (Hinche).
I also know they are the least of our bothers, and know what we are called to do by Christ. I recall at a hearing in DR a Haitian woman crying not to be deported, cursing that she was born Haitian. I was sitting by an elderly Haitian couple at an airport and seen Christ in there eye’s, no words passed between us but I knew them.
I ask, can’t we figure a way to help before it becomes a bigger problem for DR and the innocence in Haiti suffer too much.
