Haitian Border Closed, Fuel Crisis

There are solutions. It is just that they are costly, require the assimilation of the Haitian people and a complete overhaul of the political, social and economic reality of what is now Haiti. Ie, Haiti ceases to exist as an independent country, changes it's name and "ownership" to new management and starts again. Are Haitians ready to accept this? Probably not, so yes, nothing is going to change except to get worse in that country for the foreseeable future.

That solution is as likely as changes in gun control, universal health care and a real interest in climate change in the USA. Throw in peace in the Middles East at the same time.

My opinion remains that there is no solution.

Change will come when Haitians demand it. As long as citizens of that country can slip across the border for a period of time to but some meat back on their bones, the impetus for real change is not as pressing as it could be. I agree with you, based on the current circumstances and will of the Haitian people, there is no solution on the horizon. For now, those who are able seem content to strike out for different shores.

Today the Haitian border was closed due to the fuel crisis there. In Cap Haitian, almost all the government offices and schools were closed as well. Things are going from bad to worse. A real national crisis is here. The USA kept support of the current President and its fingers in everything, but everything is falling apart and not working. Not sure what the future is, but people there have to eat. They have been beyond patient with the government and their struggle to live. But it is only getting worse as the horrible economy declines and declines. Very sad and horrific.

Excellent article on fuel crisis:

Thanks for the link, leads to other informative articles on Haiti. After seeing video of the "senator shooting", is the security situation that bad? What I thought were military are actually the journalists, WEARING bulletproof vest and helmets! P.... turned out to be Presse, not Police
