They complained about the roofs issue, but the boiling point was when it rained and flooded. Guess what came in the houses with the flood waters…
Unbelievable! Imagine the pathogens in that human excrement and the potential for it to spread and contaminate surface and subsurface water supplies during flooding. People with their own wells could contract cholera and other diseases. People who have cisterns and roof water catchment systems would be at very high risk of exposure to fecal coliforms and e-coli contamination and the diseases resulting from that contamination.

The DR Health and Labour departments should make it mandatory for contractors to provide portable toilets at construction sites. Perhaps they do but it’s not enforced.

The video has no audio perhaps intentionally as one can't quite tell from it what is going on.

It was reported in other media https://listindiario.com/la-republi...ado-hospital-incidente-uvero-alto_850666.html

9mm Daewoo pistol? I’m surprised. Didn’t know Chinese guns were being imported and sold in the DR. Knowing the quality of Chinese goods, I’d be leary about buying a Chinese handgun, even if they are cheaper. Last time I as in Florida, I dropped into a gun store near Pensacola and tried out Glocks, Berettas, and others. The Glocks were the best In my humble opinion.

Well, as we all know, normal Dominican behavior is never flush the toilet after using it. So tell me what is normal Haitian behavior? As far as I know, they use plastic grocery bags to take a shite and then throw them on the roofs, on the trees, etc.
I've been around Haitians for over 25 years and never witnessed that or even heard of it.

Something tells me there were extenuating circumstances if this is true, like maybe no plumbing?

For many winters, I witnessed truckloads of Haitian labourers being transported to and from Playa Dorada daily. They worked on the construction of new condos and the conversion of the older AI’s into condos. I ran early in the morning by those construction sites before the crews arrived. I was curious about the construction quality of the new condos. If it wasn’t guarded, I did a quick look around. Never noticed any piles of bags. The contractor must have had something in place for them. I did notice the high quality concrete and tile work the Haitians did on the condos.

looks like the P.D was restrained. Threatening people with hammers and rocks is a death sentence in many countries.

It's not my job to know if there's community of haitis or else. My point of this thread is to discuss about Haiti attacking. If you don't like what I'm doing, don't bother. I'm done with you. Have a good day
This website is dedicated to discussions about the Dominican Republic. While we acknowledge regional topics, it's important to stay focused on matters directly related to the DR. Haiti is a separate nation with its own unique issues, so let's keep the discussion centered on the Dominican Republic—its culture, history, achievements, and challenges.

The Haitians who protested are victims of a culture that hire illegals, exploits their hard labors, does not pay them for their work. There is nobody standing in their corner. What the hell else can they do to get attention and punish those who mistreat them? Non-violence does not achieve anything in the DR. They have to resort to violence to get attention. Well, they got it.

It is a brutal cycle, they work hard, don’t get paid, Employer(s) call immigration and police to haul them away, the salary money stays in the employer’s pocket. In comes the next batch of potential victims. The cycle starts over again.

You can reasonably assume the man that was killed was by a gunshot from the management side.

I think as @JD Jones notes, Daewoo is South Korean perhaps related to the company that once made cars and went bankrupt. I wouldn't be surprised though if Chinese guns were in the DR.

bogus!!! They become violent to lash out at the people they believe are responsible for their position in life. Dominicans! This is a typical response to non-educated non ambitious hooligans. They should direct their anger at the country that insists they speak a gibberish language and put their faith in voodoo.

I did not see anyone get shot. However, during that scrum, it looks like several deserved it.

Ah indeed.
I was thinking of a different incident.
Should have been more clear about it.
