Posting for a retired military gentleman from North Carolina visiting his wife, here in Santo Domingo. He's interested in the availability and cost of helicopter flying classes. Any help/guidance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

There are multiple places in Central Florida (Orlando-Tampa_Daytona Beach) that will allow you to get your Private for helicopters for $12,000-$15,000

Only downside is the use those dammed R 22 which I refuse to fly in

On the upside of that I've seen R22s and R44s on several occasions in the DR, so they'd be familiar.
