The phone number for the resoret is 809-320-3800. Fax # is 809-320-5141. I know in the wavelength room, the playstation is 2. My son didn't concern himself much and played volleyball and basketball.

Last thoughts - bring a few snacks with you. Even the stores at the plaza are expensive. You will pay about 6 USD for a bag of chips and small chocolate bars are about 2 bucks a crack. The pizza was decent in the Mexican and it was served until 4. Dinner starts at 6:30. My kids were certainly able to go the distance without something other than a drink - it was a non-issue. It was nice to have a Tim's on the way home yesterday too!

Hi, not due to go until end July 2007 so hope some/most of the issues are resolved by then. Has anybody had any feedback from First Choice regarding the problems and what they are doing to resolve them? I am grateful for all feedback, good and bad, as it means we can look forward to all the positive stuff, but can hopefully nag First Choice to resolve some of the negative comments! Does anyone have any recommendations for day trips and their costs? There are 4 adults in our party and 2 children aged 9 & 11 so the trips need to be suitable for all of them.

k...it looks like there will be many of us there between the 9-19 Jan from all over. we need a secret wave or hand shake or yodel or ribbon thing to identify each other!

for those who have been there...i have not seen pictures of the lobby...is there a fountain of some sort or a special unmissable tree or plant sitting there that one could say "meet me at the __________ in the lobby at 6 pm on friday for a meet and greet"

i do not want to meet in the complaint line...haahaha

it would be neat to put faces to the nicknames....maybe planner could join us!...

what say y'all?

Sounds like a good idea to meet up with some of you guys for a drink.
Not sure on the secret handshake? A yodel sounds fun.......

Just spoke to First Choice

Hi Everyone
Im going on the 27th Jan for two weeks - paid less than ?600 each so not expecting too much. Ive travelled to many countries in all different star hotels. I can put up with most things (but not sewage). To be on the safe side rang First Choice customer services (0845 6004945) - spoke to Gareth MCCausland and expressed my concerns - reports of sewage problems/flooding etc. He phoned the resort and spoke to the rep while I was on the phone and he said they have not been receiving complaints and there have been no official complaints from the rep logged back to First Choice (Im sure some people will be disagreeing with this comment!) To cut a long story short they have put notes on my booking form that I have made this enquiry and will be looking to move hotels at no cost to myself if the room is not up to standard. If there are sewage problems I will be the first to report back to everyone - but hopefully these are just teething problems. I have stayed at places before and the reviews have not been too favourable but I have found them fine. And for anyone still moaning about the mossies - you are supposed to be taking malaria tablets so what do you expect! Hope everyone has a good holiday x

Hi Everyone
And for anyone still moaning about the mossies - you are supposed to be taking malaria tablets so what do you expect!
Another hysterical Brit yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre. Those of us that live on the North Coast can't remember a case of malaria here.

BTW, if you have a concern about mosquitos, Dengue should be more of a concern, but still rare.

Questions that have not been touched on yet.

Hello, all. Thread is very interesting and I look forward to reading it each day. A couple of questions that have not been touched on yet in the 63 pages.....
1. Beach towels, are they provided? Are they washed and clean reissued? Are they in abundance or hard to find, do we need to bring our own?
2. Room Safes: Are there safes in each room? Are they included or do you pay a user fee per day?

Thankfully I have not read anything about belongings going missing from the rooms - a bonus anywhere.

:surprised

I'll koo koo too! LOL...we arrive on Jan 18 at noon.

I'm feeling a little better with some of the better reviews. We have saved for a while, and not had an all inclusive caribean holiday since our honeymoon in 1991. We have mostly travelled in Canada and California ( we have family there) with the kids.

Thanks to everyone for all the reviews...all were very helpful.

koo koo for now.

i think they based the movie "snakes on a plane" on people taking malaria tablets...im just kidding....sort of....

i have "heard"...(yes heresay) that these tabs can really mess you up mentally while you are taking them (hallucinations, paranoia, and the like)...has anyone ever experienced that?

Malaria tabs

Ive taken them before and no problems - never met anyone who has had any trouble with them.

Us Brits

Another hysterical Brit yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre. Those of us that live on the North Coast can't remember a case of malaria here.

I went to to docs this week to find out what jabs we needed and the doc said we do need to take malaria tablets so we are not shouting "FIRE" and we are not hysterical.

i dont think i have made one post that has caused anyone to be hysterical.

i for one will take my tablets as for me its better safe than sorry.

Regarding Beach Towels:

They are available, though if you get to the towel desk after 9am or so, they are hit and miss. Some days they had some at that time, other days they were out until late afternoon.

Regarding Room Safes

They are available. Funny story. My brother lost his key and had to pay $20 US to have the safe drilled and a new lock added. When the worker finally arrived to drill the safe, it became a giant 4 hour drama involving six different workers to get the safe drilled. Of course, he couldn't leave his room all afternoon while they were doing this work because he had valuables in the safe. Another example of why this place was a disappointment.

I just want to note that there was a minor epidemic of diarhea at the resort due to some meals at the Italian restaurant. It was happening over the crouse of a few days, yet the complaints were ignored and the same dishes (containing the affected Alfredo sauces) continued to be served. It continued after we left.

Trip Advisor has a good series of user reviews, all of them accurately negative. I suggest checking those out.

diarrhea tips?

Friends who travel extensively gave me some buffet tips:

Pick your table first, and use your CLEAN UNUSED utensils to dish up your portions at the buffet table. Someone just in front of you may have coughed or sneezed in their hand before they used the serving spoon... or worse, used the washroom without washing their hands.

Take instant hand sanitizer with you wherever you go. Use it just before you eat your meal too.

It might sound a little paranoid, but may save a week on the john!

bon appetite!
