Relax - the hotel is fine. There are no MAJOR issues at the hotel. There are always things people will find to bitch about. Just relax and have agood time.

About that link to the website - ?????

Shopping?

Great review, glad your holiday went so well.

Just to add to what you say - there are in fact lots of places to spend your money. Contrary to the advice you receive from the reps - you can safely and easily leave the resort and go into town! Puerto Plata has lots to offer our visitors - shopping - restaurants - site seeing - drinks on the Malecon facing the ocean.... get to know some people who actually live here!

And of course for those interested get out at night and experience a local club - not a tourist club!

you can do all this safely and easily if you just use your common sense!

Hiya, just one question, SHOPPING??? for what? tacky presents? I went into town and sorry but was hardly a shopping mall...I did enjoy my holiday but there isn't much to do other than trips and chill out...(which is why i went)..Perfect!!

Cheers

Of course there are lots of tacky touristy items. BUt one persons tacky is another persons treasure.

There are lots of little out of the way places to find things in Puerto Plata! And malls are not the be all end all! For those you have to go to Santiago.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday - it is always about what works for you!

There are lots of good clothing stores in Puerta Plata. There is a really unique store on Beller that I love for unique decorating items. Shoe shopping if fairly good too. Two large dept. stores supply everything you need for the home. Try buying something that doesn't come from a souvenir shop that you can actually use when you get home.

Right now they are not bad at all. But then again we have been in near drought conditions - very little rain lately. No rain, no standing water, less mozzies..... When we do get rain the little buggers will be back......Come prepared.

That is right last time we didnt know how it worked so we took pesos and dollars, this time we are taking dollars only as we know any change we get will come back as pesos.

It does say on first choice website towels are provided best way then you arent taking sand flies and such into your room.
Last year we stayed at fun royale and the towels were always provided and there was always a huge pile and they were cleaned daily.
Have a great time when do you leave?

Yes towels are readily available. You can exchange them daily for clean ones....

Be careful if you take them on tours with you as you will have to pay for lost towels......

Unless you are in the VIP section then you can just go and get towels whenever you want as you have no vouchers for them . Just show you wrist band and off you go.
