Idk about Canadian pizza, but 23US for a plain jane large pie in NYC, still delicious and better than anything I've ever tried between north Coast and D'dingo. You must be talking about a personal size. The joint next door charges 750 for a large pepperoni. He's got a decent sauce cheese thing going but crust seems premade. I think pizza is a bad example. Food costs are off the charts compared to just 3 years ago. If you eat rice and beans, plantains, ok still a good deal. Tbh if I ever saw a grain of rice again (unless it was prepared by a sushi chef) it would be too soon. Well, maybe I could do a decent risotto as well.

Jeez, adding my whole point was my food costs for 3 here are basically equivalent to NY/NJ
Food in the US in much cheaper than in Canada. Always has been. Yes, prices have increased a lot here as well, but not near the cost of Canada. As for the US I have no idea.

I see apartments with multiple bedrooms (2+) have gone up the past few years significantly.
Those with 1 bedroom seem to have remained near where they were 3 years ago.
Seems families living in DR are bearing the need for more money to get by than single persons.

I forgot to mention that my apartment in Sosua went from 400usd a month to 600. My brand new apartment in Colombia, never lived in 3 bedroom two bathroom is $300.usd a month.
the last time I paid 300 dollars a month for an apartment was when I was in college, decades ago.

I've noticed pretty much the same thing. One-bedroom units have gone up here in Cabarete(finally), but the two-bedroom units have gone up more and are in high demand.

Oops, forgot to mention 24/7 electricity and high speed Fiber Optic connection. I pay for 200 Mbps, they give me 300 Mbps.

Think money laundering due to the DR being a major illegal drug transhipment point and it may start to make sense.
A very profitable business it is.

The easy way to see that is by driving around at night and looking at the towers and see how many have lights on.
