Viva Wyndham Dominicus was the scene of a mass vaccination effort by the La Romana-Bayahibe Hotel and Cluster Association. Over 3,500 workers in hotels, restaurants and other tourist concerns were vaccinated. This number represents about 50% of the total number of employees in the area. The process is part of the National Vaccination Plan and seeks to ensure the safety of tourists in the Dominican Republic. The tourism sector is gradually recovering at a good pace after total collapse in March 2020. The low density of most beach resorts enables for the optimum conditions for safe vacationing during the pandemic to be met.
