The culture of this forum (and many other forums) frequently leads to the posting of unasked for, and yes sometimes unwarranted, advice based upon the knowledge gained by those living here and the posts made by the person asking for help. Cobraboy, myself and others are simply pointing out the foibles of having the incorrect tool for the job here in the DR.
Forums also have a culture of vetting out new posters. DR1 does this frequently and doubles the vetting when the Original Poster tries to do things that simply don't make sense to the rest of us.
As far as reading the book you mentioned, I did once. It had some nice stories in it.
