Hunger in Haiti reaches famine levels as gangs squeeze life out of the capital and beyond

A new report has found that nearly 6,000 people in Haiti are starving, with nearly half the country’s population of more than 11 million people experiencing crisis levels of hunger or worse, as gang violence smothers life in the capital of Port-au-Prince and beyond.

Certainly they can afford to feed themselves.

But money alone doesn't feed people. There is no food distribution infrastructure, so how can what aid there is get to the people? The only good thing is that outside Port au Prince there is quite a lot of agriculture and presumably they can still produce some food in those areas.

They figured out how to get all of those guns and ammo in there so they can figure out how to get some food and water in there too.

As long as the gangs have their money and food, nothing will change. The regular people will pay the price. It certainly makes is desirable for a young person to join the gangs as there you are fed and wealthy.

When people have nothing but each other, they mate, and the human biology being what it is, breed for the purposes of survival of the species. It doesn't use logical thinking. I was in Ethiopia during the famine in 1986, it was the same.

Yes Sir, there are at least 4 JETBLUE and 4 AA Flights every single Day (via JFK ). Safest way to get in and out. Taking a BUS... NO THANK YOU !!!

PAP ... to be honest i didn't even know that they have another functioning intern. Airport. In the morning they fly direct to NY, the other ones are mostly via FL. 250 something (one way).
