we have still strong bands passing by here on the East Coast, even more in Eastern Puerto Rico right Now.
the last short Thunder ad Lightning stopped just 5 minutes ago with some more to come.
Santo Domingo too far from the Storm or protected due Mountains?
no my friend, that's the wrong point of view, the Mountains bother such Hurricane only when they are too close to it's Center, so they loose Powers, but a storm running over water will bring with it's spin the full waterload also to tyhe other side of the highest Mountain Range, and in case of Distance Santo Domingo was not that far away, they just luckily been located in a dead corner of the Storms over all spreading out snd that's very good, as Santo Domingo is the by far most populated Area in the Country and many many Areas are high populated by Citizens not very well prepared, many even living right at the Dangerzones, to get the Capital Spared is good.
for example Punta Cana is located at this Moment much farer from the Storm and also on the other side of the Mountains, but we got quiet hefty on long distance pieces and we still receive Thunderstorms from Irene, even that She is officially long gone.
that above NYC Scenario is nothing fabulous or such, it is easy within the possibilities of Irene's actions, even that such several Days ahead Forecasts have of course a uncertainty of a couple hundred Miles at least on the Tracking.
I don't think SC will get any Hit, a slight nearby touch with the Outer Banks would be IMHO the most Western Route Irene could take.
I think She will use a much more Eastern Lane on that Road and run almost undisturbed up the Eastshores, the Northern Portions of the US East Coast are actually the most possible to await Destin Area. as Our Capital so is that Area there that ****ry's High Populated Area, the most vulnerable Destin, every Mile further away from that Destin is a good Mile, let Her turn NE out to the Graveyard, but such will most likely not happen.
she is struggling a bit still, even showed Her Eye on the Sat shots this afternoon, that's Our aftermath for Her, she was too close to stay unharmed and that will save the US Coast 1 Cat Level in the Final Stage.
since 2 hours the Eye is again fully tapped by new and heavy Thunderstorm Activity, She fights to get her lost powers back. it may take Her an other 24hrs to have that organized, but then she should intensify again, but at least those 24-30hrs of growing uglier are taken away from Her.
No Fishing planned for the next 10 Days, Olly, I just wait for the Skies to turn Sunny again to bring the Boat here out of the Water for Her Yearly Maintenance as usual during low Season. till end September we will run some Blue Marlin Charters again, October is our Month for some Pleasure Rides, to be back for a new working Season in November, that's the same shedule on such Job every Year.
