Juan Dolio: Just had a brief but good hard downpour...But it was blue sky over the ocean at the same time. I love an occasional downpour or even a rainy day! Can't complain!

no Tuna Season.
the Mahis are almost finishingt their Schoolies-Size Time, we get actually daily the 15-25lbs'ers,
yesterday morning we had a nice 45lbs Mahi within the group.

the Low Pressure System in the Mid Atlantic seems to Center around 600-650 miles NE of the Leeward Islands.
If it develops such will occure slowly.
the broad Area of Disturbed Weather is since a 24hrs on the Move, a slow Move, it is drifting Northwards, away from the Islands.

no dangers out there from the East for our Isle.

here on the Eastshores we had a mixed Day, very sunny the first half, and more and more clouds mixing in as the afternoon continued, with 2 Brief showers late afternoon, at least in the Northern Bavaro Area where we spent the afternoon, it looked like Isolated Rain, not present everywhere else.
there are more short shower cells on the Run as the Radar show, nothing out of the ordinary, some Areas will get a brief shower or two tonight, too, nothing which would last long.
also the wind today switched several Times from very low to quiet Breezy, up and down.
the Ocean is a rough dangerous Mass, offshore Fishing for Today and Tomorrow is def not recommended,
by monday morning the Sea will be back on it's usual Level to continue our actual Mahi-Mania, lol.

happy weekend

today on the NC... rough seas, but just acceptable to go and do some fishing...

In 2 hours we outwitted 3 dorado's (mahi), but small ones, and a carite (fair-sized). And damn... we missed a big-sized marlin... lol

The good part was that we did not get any rain on the waves, while the coast was getting battered...

Tomorrow mahi on the barbie, with a couple of nice green ones...

Hopefully next week is better, although predictions say otherwise

it does not look as it would calm down, and calm conditions would be something very Rare for end November.

here on the East we have today a Breeze out of the NNE of 15+Knots,
Ocean is on dangerous heights, no Mahi for Us this weekend, been planned that way anyways, we took all a weekend Off with some maintenance done yesterday and a relaxed Sunday at Home today.
I was positive that the Breeze and Sea will be back on a acceptable Level for Monday morning, but looking on it Today I would not bet on such for tomorrow, such conditions late November can last for many consecutive Days, a mayor P.I.T.Azz for the Fishermen, specially as I have this coming week from tomorrow on fully booked, but that's a usual Risk in that kinda Biz.

Invest 99L, the Disturbance NE of the Leeward Islands, is organizing very slow since Days, but it organizes.
the Area is on a Movement towards the North, so at least nothing coming directly towards the Island.
windshear north of the System is more favorable for Development than the actual Surroundings, so there are good chances to see some development by monday night or during Tuesday while it moves slowly towards the North.

our actually strong Winds and very rough Sea Conditions are not a Product of 99L, the opposite, 99L is a lil byproduct that came up due our rough and Typical late November Mid Atlantic Conditions.
it could become a Subtropical Storm by mid Week, but would not of Concern for our Island aside of some extra Waves and mphrs on the Windspeed Scale for the Northshores.

We are def in Caribbean Fall-Time, so now we will catch some Days where the Wind's Temps overrule the present Sun's temps and we wear long Sleeves once in a while, at least Locals and long Time Residents will do so, including myself.

such rough/windy/wavy "Winter" Conditions are occuring several Times every Winter, they are typical for the Time Period mid November/December/til late January, also early February shows quiet often some very harsh Conditions.
the Northerners have their Snowstorms, we have some Breezy fresh Temp Days with Waves suiting the Surfers very well.
just that our Caribbean Winter is much shorter lasting than the Cold Wintertime up North.

happy Sunday

Mike

btw,
aside of the strong Breeze and the big Waves we are here on Sunshine this morning.

It is not over till the fat lady sings! Latest info :

A WEAK AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IS LOCATED A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES
NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS. THIS SYSTEM IS PRODUCING
A LARGE AREA OF DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AS IT
INTERACTS WITH AN UPPER-LEVEL LOW. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE NOT
CURRENTLY FAVORABLE FOR SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT...AND THIS SYSTEM
HAS A LOW CHANCE...10 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL OR
SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS AS IT MOVES
GENERALLY NORTHWARD AT AROUND 15 MPH.

Does not look as if it will come our way but Mike you need to keep the keyboard active !

ha ha,
Stormwise for coming up from our East.Northeast the Season is done.
Invest 90L is the Interaction of a Low Level and a Upper Level Low Pressure Area, IF something brews it would become a Subtropical Formation, but chances to develop a Storm out there are very low, near nothing.
the Area of disturbed weather is located NE of the Northernmost Leeward Islands and is moving towards Northern Directions, not coming our Way independend of Development.
SSt's and Windshear and Dry Air surroundin the Area are all against a quick developing of anything.

the Eastern DR is on extremely low winds since last Eve, around max 5Knots only, with showers moving through once in a while during tpoday, as they also did last night all night long.
the typical end November Rain/Weather.
Ocean Conditions are beautiful over here, Dorados and Sailfish are Biting very nice, Life is good and will stay Stormfree til next Hurricane Season.

cheers

we are since yesterday morning completely Flat/Calm on the East, been a sunny day yesterday and starts sunny and dead calm today, but it's a weather Trap by Mom Nature.

we are on that surprising Calm Southern Current here on the Eastshores because there is a lil Bugger out on our NorthEast pulling all da Stuff Up.

we will get clouds and most likely we will get a good share of watering out of it, it is moving in from the NE towards Samana/PC, should cover the whole East later Today.
doesn't look stormy, but darn Wet.

cheers from actually Sunny Skies

Yes Pedro,
the Conditions to let Hurricanes form up are over for the Area,
that Season started super Active but been finally over all a Now Show as usual, just the usual 'close calls'.

I also like them exactly that way,
to watch them on a screen from a far distance

it's moving slow but on it's way.

wind is still dead calm here on the Beaches on the East,
but we are on 10-12 knots of winds on Sea Level just 15 miles NE of Punta Cana.
first Rainbands this morning passed on our East out on Sea, but we have on the Radar some first portions arriving in maybe 4-5hrs, hard to guess.

til now full sunshine over here, a perfect Beachday

it's located by now around NW'ern Puerto Rico, doesn't look Wet til now, at least not on the radar's coverage Arae.
we've bene all day long and still are completely calm on the Eastshores,
but when almost finishing the afternoon Charters the offshore Sea started to come up significantly,
we expect the Sea to pass over the 10ft Margin tonight and well into tomorrow.
it's a Frontal.
I can't say what effects it exactly will have on the Northshores, but it def will provide almost windfree(below 12Knots) long rolling darn High Waves here on the East pressing into the Mona Channel.
it's a Low and a High pressure Area, and we are squeezed into the middle of 'em.
nothing bad nor dramatic, not very rare neither this time of the year, but some Beaches not well protected by a far enough off Reef Barrier will get a load of Waves it looks like.

looks til now differentb here on the East.
I can hear the waves bouncing the Reef from here on the Veranda, but not loud enough to expect anything rough for tomorrow.
Today been all fine and flat, much calmer than a usual December day.
tomorrow we anyways plan only on one 8hrs charter onn the 38ft Blackfin, should be all very fine.

Here waves are supposed to be 7 ft apart, reasonably high. As the boat is on shore, it would be hell to get it out, and the ride would be hell on the passengers as well, it being a 27ft boat

that's of course a different situation.
firstly, my smallest Boat is a 29ft Blackfin Flybridge Yacht, she takes waves better than any 35ft Bertram, and she is not out today anyways. the only Boat I have offshore today is the 38ft Blackfin Predator, 7-10ft Sea would not even be a problem for that Boat in short choppy Bursts, she prooved to ride Tropical Storm Force Sea without Problems, and without Customers of course.
she is out today for a 8hrs Charter, as of 45 Minutes ago offshore Sea here on the East been Reported by thye Predator 18nmls off Cabo Engano just on 6ft and coming comfy in very long swells, a quiet calm day offshore over here.
usual mid November til mid February offshore Sea over here would show on Average 6ft Sea under 10-12Knots of Wind, not the comfy long swells which we have today.
wind is here today onshore Dead, on Zero, offshore winds are still slightly below 10 Knots but they changed from last Nights ENE-NE to come from the East now and are tending to pick up, actual estimate for offshore Winds for mid afternoon of Today I would await on 13-15Knots as a Maximum, with a few slightly higher Gusts, all in all an average Day for a December Day out on the Deep Blue.
the Boat did not find significant current Hits closer to the Coast, so the Mahis and Sailfishes Today need to be searched for in the 15-30nmls Offshore Zones, I await the Boat to get Today's Hits around the further off Canyonlands.

good luck for your Boats on the Northshores to be back working on the Water very soon again.

the Breeze which changed to come from the east now and is awaited to stay on that Track, will most likely bring the most of the swells coming down from the North to bounce towards the Northshores, with just a very small portion to come towards the Eastshores.
await the highest swells in All Areas to hit/approach You out from the NE to the SW straigt on.

Yes Peter,
onsuch conditions the touchest Point is always the Passage to clear the Reef to go out and then to come back in, specially for small Vessels which do not carry the needed Weight to flat down 8-10ft Waves over a Reef's Channel.
we have are lucky on that over here, the Marina provides a long Channel, so the over 20 Tons of the Predator run the end of the Channel on 25+Knots and those NE'ern Waves come on that straight from in Front of the Boat straight to the Boat, You find the appropriate Speed for the actual Distance between the Waves of a Present day and Run out smoothly, on the Way back in You stay on the Top of a High Swell and "Surf in" for a Minutes, then You are here right away in a calmer Channel behind the Wave breaking Rocks, some are there made by Mom Nature, some are Menmade Breakers added to Nature's Protection.
of course if the mentioned 27ft'er is a light Walkaround/Center Console Boat, then the actual Sea is nothing to consider for a Ride, then it will be a few Days Off Time.

the Day finished with 22 mahis, 7 of 'em over 25lbs each, 1 Sailfish released and 2 white Marlin released.
as for the offshore Sea Conditions the Sea been during the afternoon on around 10ft with higher Tops, very long running, wind pendled in on close to 15 Knots with slightly higher Gusts, nothing out of the ordinary, a smooth day of offshore Fishing with finally a very Nice Catch to make it a Successful Day.
for tonight I would await that we get a bit of a breeze onshore, nothing too heavy, but a bit of wind, the dead calm Zero wind from mid day will not stay the Norm.
Sea should pendle near shore on 4-5ft and offshore 6-8ft with a 12+Knots Offshore Breeze, an average for the Time of the year providing an other 2 or 3 days of great fishing conditions, til the Bites will go back a bit during the Full Moon which will show up here Saturday morning 10:37AM. by tuesday morning the full Bite will be back on, actual Sea conditions provide the needed wide and long areas of current Hits, full of Floaties, so the Mahis and the Sails and the Whites will be there to Feed.
