Dolores reported yesterday that the DR1 server is located is Houston....go figure...Harvey did a job up there....

HB

thats lazy americans, Harvey, puuuh.
we had Irma and passed it without a single power out, lol.
Robert wrote a few times about it last night,
the servers are in trouble and once they go down it takes a short while to reload that stuff.
even having fun in the Mountains, Robert is always on top of it, you wait soe minutes and bang you are on DR1 again.

Brisk breeze with gusting along the Malecón in Santo Domingo. Light drizzle, white caps on the sea and we are definitely in the cyclonic motion of the storm with the wind from the south west.

He was at the newly renovated apartment building between Sans Souci apartments and the Lifestyle construction project. I think the damaged solar panels come from the renovated building.

That was my best guess when I saw the tall construction it looked like the beach section of Lifestyles. Looks like the renovated condos will need a bit of work. Out my way a bit inland from the western part of kite beach, there are moderately high wind gusts and some rain up until now.

I wonder where he was, exactly...

The San Souci Hotel. You can see the big rocks they put there a few years ago when the hotel was about to be swamped. You can also see the construction for Lifestyles on the beach.

For all the Dominicans in the Leewards, you cannot make this up.

Jose as Cat 3 is now forecast to wack into Antigua and Barbuda and then St Martin, Anguilla, St Barts, this Saturday and watches are up again so soon after the earlier ones were lifted. Best weather models generally in agreement.

As the threats to DR drift further and further away with every passing hour with a bullet well and truly dodged, my concerns focus on many friends in the Turks and Caicos and those still in the Leewards who are not so very lucky.

Ocean front outside of Sosua. The surf has really grown in the last hour. From my upper floor, about 65 feet above ocean level, I saw a wave that I could not see over. They are breaking before the 20' coral cliff that protects us but enough water is thrown up and inland to our back wall that is about 50 meters from the ocean. The wind has shifted and intensified more out of the NNW so is blowing more parallel to the ocean front and our house. It's hard to really tell, but I think the ocean level is up about 10' or more.

No damage other then the trees and bushes are getting some pruning but nothing big. OK... have to do water clean up from 3 very small leaks around windows; just throw a towel on it cause not enough to even mop.

Power still out and generator has kicked in to charge up batteries. Everything is working though internet has slowed.

The eye should be at it's closest point to us in an hour or so.

Wind and rain picked up substantially here in Sosua over the last hour. But nothing too dramatic. I did hear thunder a few times and then what I believe was a lightning strike? Is that normal during a hurricane?

Power all over town has been out all day (I went for a walk this morning - staying put now though). Some tree limbs were down and a few sheets of roofing blowing about. All businesses seemed closed. Several on PC were actually boarded up and sandbagged. Others at least had their windows taped.

once it is blowing from the straight West you are passing your closest point,
it takes a few hours when it again goes up and down and then you passed it, all calmingdwon more and more.
i dont know how the Tail will work for you guys up there, as there are all those mountains in teh way and we do not have any Radar coverage to see that bands moving.
on us down here onteh SW the Tail has some windy rainy areas but nothing to write about, not lasting long til now.
at the moment we are very very calm again, been a few times tat way te last horus.
