They do get free transport... medical insurance is provided but there is a payment for that. Food is free while working at the resort.
Nobody gets an increase in pay unless it is stipulated by the Govt... And this has not happened for the past 4 years
Minimum wages in the sector were raised by the government last year.

I've stayed out of this thread until now, but Ken IMO you have to remove the blinders from your eyes. I have been in the DR since 2001 and have seen so many marriages begin and then fall apart.

It isn't always tourist-Dominican, either. My Dominican landlord was married to a Dominicana from a "good family" who had all of Hillbilly's requisites. During the marriage she demanded the best in furniture and decorative items, made to order of caoba. When the marriage fell apart within 5 years, she cleaned everything out of the house. She also wanted to take all the furniture from his furnished apartments, even though the apartments were occupied.

Please rethink your plans and know that once the ring is on her finger, if her behavior is an act it will change abruptly.

It sounds as if this is your first relationship with a Dominicana. You cannot have enough experience at this point to declare that she is a DDD ( definitely different Dominican.)

I was told this by someone who worked at secrets. He just mentioned that the Govt controls increases and he thought the last one was 4 years ago.

Marriages fall apart all over the world.. What makes the DR any more dangerous? Besides from what I have gleaned, marriages is not the norm here.
She is not pressings me to marry and I told her I would live with her...not marry her!!!!

One Simple Question. Is it not possible for a rich white guy from the States to have a successful relationship with a poor resort worker?

For some reason these random references and the tempo reminds me of a Billy Joel Song " We didn't start the Fire" .... lmao

The only thing the government controls is the minimum salary. Companies are free to pay above that amount............and do for longer term employees.

Not very long ago, the law was changed to make "living with" a common law marriage. Just cohabitation will not protect you, financially, emotionally or physically.
Was just going to say this . and this is why many times when Dominicans refer to their Esposa ,its the Person they LIVE with ( for like 5 years plus, I dont know the exact #) , but who they are not really married to , on paper.

Possible?

Absolutely!

The probability.................given what you have told us so far....................likely the same odds as winning the MegaMillions jackpot.

I really hope you are sock puppet, because if not, your blind ignorance (and that is NOT meant derogatorily) may leave you lost and confused in a world/culture you really seem to know little about.

OP...suggestion for you. Serious. Take a month off but first go to the NC and spend some time with our fellow members. Hang with them for a week or so. Then go to Santo Domingo. Stay in the heart of the capital, clubbing, whore houses and fine dining. Then go meet your amor and spend 10 days in the campo. Then sit back , have a great brandy, like Gran Duke and comteplate your navel about the whole "confusing situation".

Dead on 🎯

I have found that a good abogado can help with the physical and financial protection part.
Emotionally he will always be on his own for that.
But there are many other chicas on the island and throughout the world that can also help.🤪

Of course it is possible.
But, with all due respect...
You do not have enough information to make the determination that is the case with your particular romantic interest at this point and time. Or else you would not have started and continued this thread. No one needs to convince you of the possibility. You need to move forward and determine if that possibility exists for you in this particular situation.
It sounds as if this is your first relationship with a Dominicana. You cannot have enough experience at this point to declare that she is a DDD ( definitely different Dominican.)
Real talk‼️

Yes it is possible. But what are you going to do with the rest of the pop. with that attitude? ("rich white guy" with a target on his back)

This is off topic.
I am going to presume that most of you have been educated n the US or Canada
Indeed it is. A person's intelligence has nothing to do with where they received their education. Ya either have it or ya don't.

Just out of curiosity is her cousin a man or a women?

Better yet, spend an hour or two on dominicancupid. Then latinamericancupid. Then caribbeancupid. That will open his eyes.
