Been informed there is a big push by the Chinese to start their own delivery service. Like Amazon but out of packed solid Toyota Corolla’s. It’s called UniUni. The chinese dollar stores here will be used as distribution centers. Again, a rumor. UniUni is already being used in the USA and Europe. So I would guess on what free trade agreements are in effect this week, day, month this will be used to bypass certain tariffs.

For Chinese goods, it will make a lot of sense to piggy bag on those Chinese stores already in place in DR as distribution centers.
As an initial step, being able to pick up an order in those stores will solve the US tax and the distribution issue within DR.

The Aliexpress tracking system is well done. If they can keep it as it is, and we can choose a Chinese store in DR as the shipment address, it will be a huge win for all.

I am used to order China's stuff from Aliexpress via Miami through BMCargo.
Works great but I guess starting May 2 ,any purchases below $800 will be taxed to 120%.
I mainly buy small stuff such as electronic components.

I am wandering if some people have experience to buy from China and ship it directly to DR.

I can see from Aliexpress I can chose DR...but

What will be the taxed on items below $200 ?
Should I use some sort of PO box in DR ?

Thank you

Peace.
I once ordered online from China. Waterproof flashlights at a cheapo price, paid by c/c and gave my store's address for shipping. By the time 4 months had passed, I had pretty much given up hope of ever receiving them. After 7 months, the torches appeared at the Sosua Post Office. They had been shipped by Hong Kong Post direct to the DR, and didn't appear to have hit customs.

If a shipment is ordered and documented from China to a DR address having an in-transit plane change at Miami it is not US taxable. If a shipment from China is documented to a US addressed forwarding courier, i.e., EPS, MBE, and ect., then it is US taxable,

Regards,

PJT
I have to stop by EPS here in Santiago later today. I am goimg to ask them if I can also have a postal forwarding address over in the EU in addition to my Doral, FL address as they offer their services in multiple countries around the world.

No change for shipment from China to Europe. You will be fine.
Maybe ,we will become best friends. :)
China would implode if they couldn't pedal cheap crap designed to fail or not work at all.
Maybe that's what Europe has become?
Europe used to prefer quality so things have changed

Quite a narrow view of what you can get from China.

Range goes from cheap crap as you can find in the typical Chinese store in DR to high end such as reported in a previous message where China is leading inovation.

What is has to do with goods sent from China via consolidated cargo to Dominican freight forwarders with registered tax-free addresses in Miami?
As reported in my first post, I use Aliexpress and BM Cargo.
Do you have a solution where I can continue ordering on Aliexpress and have my items delivered in DR without paying US tax?

Based on a search on the Internet, BM Cargo does not automatically exempt you from US taxes.

Let me know.

Peace.

First of all, did somebody ask you to pay any US tax already? Order something cheap (like $5) from Ali Express now and see how it goes. I hope you can afford such experiment.

Would love to know your source.

From Internet.
A 2023 Australian Strategic Policy Institute study of what it deemed as 44 critical technologies concluded that China leads the world in 37 of them, including 5G internet, electric batteries, and hypersonic missiles.

From Tim Cook

From my personal experience.
I have a drone from DJI and a 3D printer from BambuLab.Those 2 companies are leaders in their respective fields.

Propaganda at its finest.
I don't know what you are talking about in terms of propaganda.
Looking for your source to state that "China is lagging in almost all technology development,"
They send as many students as they can to MIT and Cal.tech for a reason.
Indeed, having the best education is deeply valued in Chinese culture. Is there something else?

No, because any items below $800 are exempted until May 2. See post #18

I will after May 2, but the result does not sound promising based on post #20.

I believe I can. Thank you for asking.
Well, do it after May 2, see what happens, you may also post about the results here to share your experience.

I don't order from Ali often, but if I will, I'll also post my experience here. Maybe I'll order something after May 2 just out of curiosity.

I used to order more often from Shein, but as I understand, they are now building a warehouse in US to send goods to their US customers from there.

Anyway, it's too early to think about all of that now, we will see in a month.

Thank you . Is there any PO box service that I can set in the Cabarete/Sosua area to have my shipping address ?
Once I have this ,I will give it a try :)

In Sosua you can open a PO box. ( rd$ 2000) When I lived in La Vega in the ninetees I had one.
I received packages from the Netherlands monthly, it never failed. I tipped the guys there from time to time and I always was friendly and polite.

All of the products they design are inferior. They contract with large companies to assemble anything and everything. Cheap labor is all they have. The only reason anyone buys Chinese products is because they are cheap. Cars, heavy equipment etc. A "made in China" label indicates low quality.
