we expect it'll clear --- in transit goods.... hopefully w/o a payment or much of a payment.

But there is now a limit on how many appliances each container can deliver..
As well as limits for rice, oil, etc

WW - you sure spend lot of time unwinding issues - you must get some satisfaction from it - a problem solver

hahaha

I just cope with the hand I'm dealt....
Sometimes those bargains can bite your a$$....

I seem to have 2 on then table just now !!

Nothing to onerous ....

Getting my wife to the airport on time today was Job #1....

Remember Pinocchio's song ??
'I got no strings to hold me down
Got no things to make me frown.....'

Just kidding... but she grates a bit with the RD life... no tan suave para ella...

3 weeks on - 4 weeks off ...... is how it works for her

So what is the bottom line on your stove - Is it just in the wind or are you going to wind up paying more for it than if you had bought one in DR?

Since you say 'family' is involved am I safe to assume cuñado ? Maybe best not to tell us ...
There will be no news until the meeting with Adaunas on Friday.

The "family" is a first cousin which in Dominican family hierarchy is almost a brother.

The dam will break open - it has to
What will they do eat the appliances ????

Just a matter of how and when

There may be a few politicos and military guys salivating over new appliances.

I have no worries. Too bad about the timing, though. The shipper admits liability in the worst case scenario.

Wanna bet those containers are piling up at the ports?

Must be a mess...

they didn't anticipate the flow 'during' their edict....

The edict will stick - I guess
How to unclog the system is the question

The saga should be over now....

CB should have rec’d his delivery y’day and mine arrived just now....
Not without the typical Dominican logistics issues.

Truck too big and long to come up my hill....
Get a Vecino with a pickup....
Load , unload...

Now to get the conversion to propane.

All in all, not that much but more than expected

Typical Dominican day

Let me just add a bit of color to the story.... or it won't quite seem right.

The truck calls me - in spite of instructions to go to the local colmado - to ask...

OK - we're in Rio San Juan... so I start explaining --

Call drops... not unusual around here

I try calling back -- nada
send a message -- same nada

Finally they answer and matter of factly explain they stopped for lunch...
like in the middle of the calling

Dominican or what?
If you didn't get it - you shoot yourself

So I get in the car to find them... easy enough - big truck , 3 guys with a plate of rice/beans
I explain about the colmado - again.... they get it

Phone again... about the hill... no can do

Down again I go... boil over my stuff on the stove while I'm away...

That's when the friend w/ the pickup helps and we pull it off.

The easy things are hard...
The hard things are easy....
The impossible takes two seconds...

Life in RD....

Like WW, our 18 boxes arrived this week without fanfare. A couple were opened and resealed. No problem with the 50 lb bags of rice, bread flour and 2.5 gallon jug of Mazola

First distribution of baseball gear was yesterday. Today we heard several of the boys slept with their new equipment. :)

Has anybody tested this new appliance rule since we talked about last February.

I have heard no rumblings from my mudanza in NYC

Methinks they're were some importers whose principal cargo was major appliances...
witness our man in FLA who had 20 odd in his container

My NYC man rarely has an appliance in his.

I was just wondering if anybody has brought in a fridge or stove or washing m/c lately
