I usually send letters back with friends, but I had some important mail to send and no friends going back anytime soon, so decided to bite the bullet and go to the post office in POP. Plus, I heard some pretty good reviews here about the service with tracking. What I never saw mentioned is that it costs 2000 pesos per letter and takes one week for delivery. Regular mail is 200 pesos and I was told one to one and a half months for delivery. The post office is open until 2;30pm.

Surely it would be easier to send it via CPS (or any of the other companies in that market). Or even DHL / Fedex / UPS? Can't be as much as 2000 pesos per letter and I'd rely on them more than Inposdom.

I have had nothing but the best service from BPS Sosua. I wouldn't use any other courier.

I wouldn't trust Inepts-dom with a rock

I didn't know that any of the couriers send mail out(?). AFAIK, they only receive mail. I was not expecting to pay 2000 pesos. However, a quick check with DHL showed 3700 pesos and 6000 pesos respectively. Insane.

Can you send mail out with them? Good news if true. EPS has great service with tracking for receiving mail. About a week total time on the last letter I received. I'm going to need to mail my ballot to vote soon. I'd hate to have to pay another 2000 pesos.

Good news! How much did they charge? I don't think BM Cargo sends mail out either(?).

I'll be calling them first thing tomorrow. I don't want to be spending 2000 pesos on every letter nor do I want to have to drive to POP every time either. Traffic has gotten much worse - 40 minutes just to get to POP today.

Tbh, I don't remember it being a bargain, but I do and have done business with them for a long time. They are highly accountable.

Years ago we had a Dominican Republic related forum in Dutch.
It had a section “ carrier pigeon” where members who were travelling could ask to take or bring posts or little items.
Maybe an idea for this forum as well?

@cavok I assume you used EPS's "package address" instead of their "letter address" if you were able to see the tracking info? As I recall, they do not track the mail received using the "letter address." I used that address once (and only once) and my item was lost.

CPS will accept outgoing mail to the USA and Europe but they are just a middle man, they stick it in a FedX envelope and several months ago it costs 6,000 pesos. Delivery time is 5 days to the States & 7 to 10 days for Europe (those are working days).

Never use anything but EPS package service. Letter service is a thing of the past............Totally unreliable......

I have sent numerous letters via EPS back to the USA. Never had an issue. But none recently. So that could have changed.

When I had to send some documents to Belfast, in the UK, I used DHL. The service was very fast and efficient (about three days, I think) and was tracked all the way. It's amazing how many stops it made en route. I can't remember the cost, but I know I thought that for the service provided it was well worthwhile.
