This is NOT EMS, you paid for cheaper and much slower service, which is not even fully traceable, that's why you only see when it was sent and when it was delivered but nothing in between.

EMS tracking numbers start with EE, your tracking number starts with RR.
Services are based on weight. You sent 2lbs to Australia for 3000 pesos. I sent a 1oz letter to the US for 2000 pesos. That isn't exactly cheap. I told the guy at the ;post office I wanted the fastest service(?). If it were 3000 pesos for the letter I sent to get EMS service, that's not cheap at all. For another 600 pesos I could have sent it DHL, got 3 day service, and not had to drive all the way to POP.

It looks like there is an advantage on heavier packages, but not on letters.

I always send from their central office in SD, so you better ask people from POP about that, because I remember that somebody posted on this forum that it may add a couple of weeks by some kind of donkey express between POP and SD, I have no idea if that's true or not.
That was my comment and you can see from my post #51 that it took one week to get from POP to SD.

You paid 2000 pesos, and that's exactly what you would pay for sending it with EMS. See their price list attached, first line. The guy just scammed you, he sent your letter with the cheaper service and put a difference in his pocket, probably.

To Cavok: and according to your tracking number, this is how your letter was sent. This should cost 60 or 100 pesos, not 2000.

Sorry but they just scammed you. This service costs 60 or 100 pesos for the letter.

this is your tracking number RR240035215DO, it's not EMS, it's just a registered mail.

Just unbelievable! He did put 2000 pesos on the receipt along with the barcode stickers. I wonder what my chances of a refund for the difference? Thanks for the info.

This is how barcode sticker for EMS looks like:

And if you send it to US, you should see

Postal Product:
Priority Mail Express International™

if you track it on USPS site

Barcode sticker for EMS has the tracking number under the barcode starting with EE. What you have there is RR and that's Registered Mail.
I mentioned it because I was just wondering if he pocketed the difference or just sent it via the wrong service(?). I sent them an email on their site regarding the issue. We'll see what happens. If anyone goes to INPOSDOM POP - CAUTION! Idiots/scammers working!

Ok, this is the update on my last package sent from Santo Domingo to VA, USA with EMS.

Large box, 21 pounds. 5500 pesos paid for the service.

I actually brought the box to INPOSDOM in the afternoon of October 24th, they processed it on October 25th, and it's delivered today October 29th.

Not bad at all, I don't think that DHL could do it faster, especially the package of this size.

Nice. No surprise to me.

This was a signature required package, correct?

That's about the same amount of time a DHL letter would have taken, but 21 pounds would have cost a lot more than 5500 pesos.

Last time I have checked DHL/FedEx/UPS prices for packages of this size and weight from DR to US, it was more than 500 USD.

Now I use INPOSDOM's EMS for everything I have to send to other countries. So far I have sent packages to these countries: US, Canada, Germany, UK and Australia. No problem at all. The only slight delay I had was with one package to Germany, it took about 5 days from DR to Germany, but German Customs is very slow so the package spent 6 more days in customs there and then was delivered in next 2 days, but that could happen with any other carrier.

Definitely seems like the way to go, especially to send packages out of the country.

I wouldn't risk to RECEIVE packages or mail with INPOSDOM. There's a bunch of couriers for that. Just keep in mind that couriers are good for receiving anything with a tracking number, but a regular mail envelope will take a ridiculously long time to arrive with any courier, because they just put it in a box in Miami and deliver that box once a month or so when it gets full. However, I had some regular mail delivered from US to my address in Santo Domingo by INPOSDOM and it took less than 2 weeks, but I would not recommend this to anybody because it may be unreliable outside Santo Domingo.

But for sending something out of DR, especially something large and heavy, I don't see any alternative to INPOSDOM and their EMS service, it works pretty good (at least if you send it from their central office in SD). I actually use it for shipping items that I sell on Ebay and other sites, and I always get a positive feedback with fast shipping mentioned.

Update: INPOSDOM will not give me a refund. They acknowledged that I was charged incorrectly for the service I received. They said they would give me a credit towards any future packages or mail.
