Greetings. My wife and I are considering moving to the DR, probably on the North Coast. We would like to purchase a condo or home ON the beach, not a block away. But we NEED great Internet service. Could someone please advise us as to what type of Internet service is available? Is there anything faster than the standard 56k modem speed available? What is the name of the ISP(s) there? Do they have a web site? Please keep in mind that we only speak English, please...Also any good realtors on the North Coast? Please advise. Many thanks.

I just move to DR recently. I do not know the internet providers of the North coast because I living in Santo Domingo but I imagine that they are the same providers with use here in the capital COdetel and Tricom I am using 56K modem without a problem. Any other information contact me. I have done a complete research in regards DR before I move and can answer most of your questions.

I see you have cable service. There is nothing that comes even close here. On most of the North coast Codetel has a virtual monopoly and a service to match. Absolutely awful. Normal service comes with 56 k. I have never ever archived those numbers while downloading or surfing. Not even close. They do have a " flash " service , maybe something like ISDN. Which is very expensive , For a private line after Peso 6000 install fee Peso 1000 monthly. While the service is available here in Sosua, I have been waiting over 6 months, every time I call they promise next months. Once at the beginning it was only weeks away. However there is a company awaiting license to provide internet service via satilite. So by the time you get here , we all might have an alternative
