Just to be clear, I have met (black) Hatians in the U.S. who hate and fear black Americans.
They clearly take there ignorance with them... to the U.S. I cannot explain why. I wonder.

I am referencing my experiences and asking questions, whether it bothers you is a different matter. I will ask more questions until such time my questions are deemed intolerable by whomever moderates here.

So... answer the question or go entertain yourself another way, please.

See...I did not even call you a dick.

Did you ever stop to think that their hate and fear of black Americans is based on their experience in the USA, not ignorance brought from Haiti?
Did you ask a question? Seems more like a statement filled with your own preconceived bias.

And yes, I have better facility with the English language than my last post suggests.
It is early, and I haven't had me gravy...

I tried to add (the program will not allow me to edit), that the behaviors of the expats I referenced often hold what we call "conservative" views here in the USA. Conservative views generally are on the right of the political spectrum. Go too far to the right, you get hitler.

In addition, it seems whenever there is political interference in Spanish speaking countries in this hemisphere, it is always to the advantage of the right leaning constituents. If they oppose a particular government, they are called freedom fighters, if they are the government, they are all called duly elected officials fighting terrorism.

And through it all, there is always at least one asshole who wants to muddy the proverbial waters by making the issue about something else....perhaps because he/she (usually he) has no real cogent response to statements such as the one I just made.

I did not make the damned history. I just suffer from it.

I have found that many Americans and Canadians take their racist, right wing, mussolini loving ways with them when they expatriate. Why is it that so many Spanish speaking countries, e.g. Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, and apparently the D.R. seem to harbor an overabundance of assholes from North America?

Well, this part of my research is done: I have found that among those who appreciate simpler ways of life, are those who wish they could oppress brown people like in the old days in the USA.
How do you come to this conclusion. Have you lived in the countries you mentioned?

I got my first passport as a means to get away from the latter. Sad to know they are everywhere, spreading their biggotry.

Sorry dude, but what you just wrote is a crock of ****. Your research is not close to being done.

So... forum questions are not to be answered unless they pass the smell test of some asshole who has nothing better to do than attack the responses of people with whom they disagree?

What kinda banana republic forum is this? Smells like texas up in here...

Just sayin'...

Surveying past and current forum threads, I see many of them are shut down due to bickering.

Can you people not read, or are you simply trying to get the thread closed?

I thought the original question was an interesting one, and decided to participate in the discussion, yet, somehow, I find myself in a verbal food fight with people throwing spam...for the crime of responding from a viewpoint you cannot stand to see the light of day.

Interesting.

It's just a bunch of stupid generalizations that are useless. You say you have a degree in stats, then use it.

Throw caca at a fan expect to get sprayed by a little bit of it.
Perhaps because your viewpoint seems a little preconceived for somebody investigating with an open mind the possibilities of moving to a developing country like the Dominican Republic, apparently filled with racist conservative white people that for some odd reason moved to a country filled with the type of people they hate, according to you. Many of those conservative ultra right wing hatemongers married and have children with those black and brown people they hate. Boggles the mind

If it is so useless, why not respond point by point? Could it be that you do not have a cogent argument to the contrary?

Instead of addressing the issues I raised, you and your buddies have attacked me by suggesting I need brain food, whatever that is, accused me of having a liberal arts degree (is that a crime if I did?), and dismissed my statements as coming from someone who perceives white people from North America as some sort of plague.

Nino and Boob, for people who presumably hate generalizations, you sure seem to have made quite a few of your own.

Is there any part of what I said that you wish to dispute with facts, rather than opinions that speak to my evil liberal arts education?

This reminds me of watching the impeachment hearings: one side presenting a case, the other side complaining about every ****ing thing else in the known universe EXCEPT the case that was made.

I am glad that what I am saying irritates you. It is one of my grand purposes in life.

Seriously.

You are familiar with the saying " you get what you pay for"

I am familiar with the saying. I am also familiar with how little it applies in the DR compared to where I came from.

Any progress on a establishing a dictatorship here? We could continue to discuss fair wages, I suppose.

Dictators typically have an aversion to points of view that do not correspond to their own. They cannot tolerate dissent of any kind. Dissenters are often labelled, then marginalized, then brutalized. History has proven this time and time again.

People who support dictators are people who want "Big Brother". They want to be absolved of the responsibility of independent thought. They want to be led by a "good strong hand". Someone who will "handle" things.

Time and again, history teaches that the things that need to be handled count among them those who are marginalized.

This is why they always persecute -in addition to those without the desired religion, skin color, or whatever- artists and professors; the intellectual class.

The intellectuals are the ones who present difficult questions. Asking the proper questions is their job. Proper questions are deemed undesireable by those who want strong man rule. Intellectuals are derided for being who they are.

But the undesireable question is never directly answered by dictators, nor their supporters. They simply insist that the question is not valid.

My question is this: is there a significant number of people who want authoritarian rule around you? This is the proverbial canary in the coal mine, I think.

I think this is pertinent to the original post. I welcome opposing views. Cheers.

Hopefully you don't want a dictatorship. I'm not sure of where they have ever worked out. Venezuela, Cuba, Russia, and others are pretty good examples. So is the RD of Trujillo.

Here is an article for you to read. With a little bit of back reading and research you will find that many of the people on this site are Libertarians or classic Liberals, not conservatives, although there are those as well. There are middle of the road moderates, slightly left of center thinkers, and rabid progressives as well. Most intellectuals you refer to are academics, there are many intellectuals that are not in academia. https://mises.org/library/why-intellectuals-still-support-socialism

I think most of the Dominicans that want a " mano duro" , are people that are missing the big picture that comes with that mao duro. They want the elimination of drugs, crime, and corruption but don't realize the cost in loss of personal freedoms....etc. Communism and Socialism can't exist without a dictator and the right-wing dictatorships create almost the same systems of control. The only difference is which classes get to be more equal than others.

Lots of words these days are used incorrectly when they get bantered about. There is big difference between racism and oppression. One who oppresses the little brown people or takes advantage of their economic desperation isn't necessarily a racist.
