Is there a CHEAP way to mail stuff from the US to DR?

Transexpress/Vimenpaq

I'm using this service regularly now, with excellent results. The first time using them, I drove the item to be shipped personally to their Doral, FL location and got to check out the operation.

Now I just use the "ship to address" they gave me when I opened up the account to send purchases/packages directly to the DR.

Last week I shipped over a bunch of Sistema sealed food containers and they arrived 4 days after they arrived in Doral.

Better than carrying suitcases to the airport!

We just got a vimepaq account so the good feedback is promting me to actually use it. We've always previously used pobidom in Santo Domingo. To be fair, with no problems whatsoever.

Saying that, if you need BIG stuff moving, carmen cargo express will do door to door by boat (about 14-21 days) but isn't done on weight, its on size/contents. We shipped a load of stuff, 5 big (and I mean big like 5ft tall by say 2ft sq) for 300 us.

Amigo, be careful what you wish for.... you might just end up filmed in a NatGeo series Locked Up Abroad ... you got the hint?

Personally I would not bring things for a bunch of strangers I have not known before... you have 2 posts so you don't know who is who and people may jump on you like an easy prey ... be careful (unless the person in question sends you the money and you buy the product and bring it, not the person sends you a package to bring along .... just a few days ago DNCD decommissioned drugs hidden in baseball-balls).

the transexpress website lists a lot of charges - if one is buying on line from say amazon do you have to declare what item you are shipping is and therefore pay more-I reda somewhere that you pay less if the value is under a certain amount, but cant see anything on the website about this - any ideas

I believe if the total value of the contents is less than $200 USD you don't pay any impuestos or additional duty...

I use a company in NY, ships a pickle barrel or equal, weight and contents are not counted, 2/3 weeks del. door to door...$80us. You need to get some dominican friends.

sorry but their in-box is full so I cant send a question to them !

Is it possible to buy off e bay and use transexpress or does it have to be a from an on line company rather than an individual person.
