Isaias is a blessing in Barahona and the National District

Barahona got the better part of the Tropical Storm Isaias. The province was desperately in need of rain to improve the water levels of the Yaque del Sur River. For people in this province, Tropical Storm Isaias was a blessing.

Media reports are that the river has returned Laguna Rincón in Cabral to adequate levels. A long-running drought had been affecting communities in the area that lived off fishing in the lagoon.

The water corporation for the capital city (CAASD) reports that the heavy rains filled up the water sources for the National District. As of Monday, city residents will have better water service.
