Stuffed in a freezer in the house where she lived, after suffering sexual violence. It is the terrible end of Claudia Lepore, a 59-year-old Italian woman from Carpi who had moved to the Dominican Republic for over ten years .

The body was found the day before yesterday in her home in the residential area of Bavaro , near the beaches of Punta Cana and the terrible doubt, which can only be dispelled by the autopsy, is that she was frozen to death.

The Modenese friend Ilaria Benati, with whom in 2009 she had started a bed and breakfast in the tropical paradise, would have made the report of disappearance to the police.

The woman, from Modena, is at the center of investigations by the local police together with another Italian, Jacopo Capasso , a real estate developer also in the Bavaro area and Antonio Lantigua alias 'El Chino', 46, considered the material author of the murder. The latter, confessed, and is already in prison. The motive would be attributable to economic reasons.

Known in Carpi for managing the 'Bel Amì' bar in via Marx, the news of the murder of Claudia Lepore spread quickly yesterday in the city.

The authorities - the Dominican press still reads - did not specify whether the woman was killed or locked up alive in the refrigerator whose opening was blocked by a ladder.

The body of the foreigner was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) in San Pedro de Macorís, for investigation".

From what has been learned, the 59-year-old would have been found dead by the police, gagged and bound, after the report of disappearance presented by Ilaria Benati. Claudia's body had been in the fridge for three days.

According to information received by the online newspaper 'Bavarodigital.net', "Antonio Lantigua, 46, reportedly surrendered to the police yesterday and presumably was hired to commit the bloody act" by those who wanted to take possession of the victim's property.

"I killed her for 200 thousand pesos", he confessed after investigators found suspicious messages on WhatsApp apparently also addressed to Ilaria Benati who claims to be innocent.

On the circumstance, investigations are underway. The victim, who leaves relatives and friends in Carpi, had managed with Ilaria Benati the B&B 'Villa Corazon', a tourist facility started when, about ten years ago, she decided to change her life. She left the bar, her hometown and moved to the tropical paradise in search of her fortune.

On the pristine beaches of Punta Cana, a tourist area where many Europeans live, including many Italians, the light-heartedness did not last long.

The friendship between the victim and Ilaria would have precipitated, so much so that the 59-year-old had left the bed & breakfast trying to start another business on her own.

She then spent most of 2019 in Carpi and returned to Santo Domingo in January 2020 to settle the last business, with the intention of returning permanently to Italy having also reached retirement.

In recent times, according to rumors, the two women had come back together but the disagreements of an economic nature related to the past management of the hotel remained.

The Dominican authorities have arrested Antonio Lantigua and are now seeking confirmation of the perpetrators of the murder.

Another plot for the TV show, "Someone You Thought You Knew". Truly horrifying and a very over-the-top way to resolve a monetary dispute, but all too common here. Some people deserve to be permanently removed from our midst so their way of thinking dies with them.

On the other hand the ''living Hell'' of some long term prisons are even better; that way they live to regret.
It is not a crime of passion when someone is hired to kill you...it is premeditated murder.

Fishy, fishy, fishy.

His ex" gf" wouldn't let him out of the house because he was off to see another woman.

So they fight.

He conviently remembers some one had promised him 200k to kill her.

So he strangles her.

Puts her in the fridge/freezer.

Whatsapp to another italian woman to tell her what happened (!!).

Decides to flee, but a friend talked him out of it. For the good of his family ..... 10 kids lol.

So he gets in her car, with some of her stuff and her credit cards. And drives up north to hand himself in to a police captain in POP that knows he is a good guy (!!).

Uses the CCs along the way in Navarette and Imbert.

Calmly gives out his confession on camera........

He is either very dumb or a psycho..... Or both.

Exactly, good translation.
The woman he says hired him was also Italian and from what I’ve read she was the former partner of the murdered woman, literally and figuratively. Sex, money and a woman scorned.

Since I've been a member of this forum we seem to have on average about 2-3 of these
murdered gringa/ gringos a year and it always involves money. I hope some of the people
reading about this understand if you decide to live in a developing country it is best to pretend
you are not as wealthy as you are. Flashing it around with fancy cars and expensive watches
is not a good idea in my opinion.
