I am in search of some lodging information for the Jarabacoa area. I have travel book which is only 1.5 yrs old but every number but one, no one ever answers the phone and the fax numbers do not work. I was able to get some information from Rancho Baiguate but they only offer an 'all-inclusive' (includes all meals) option which would be a waste - we don't intend to spend every moment at the hotel so why pay for lunch and dinner if we won't be there? Any suggestions on lodging - don't need the Ritz Carlton but clean, with a balcony, comfortable bed, and hot water that is somewhere in the mid-range for price - (less than $40 per person). Thanks!

Pinar Dorado is a nice place, in a good location about a 10 minute walk to the center of town, if none of the number Hillbilly gave you work, phone 574-2056, This is the manager's home #.
The Gran Jimanoa is reasonable also, The owner is Carolina Abreu

Pinar Dorada

Stayed there a few times. Clean, pool, nice staff, nice rooms, nice restaurant. You have the option of all inclusive, or just the inclusive breakfast.

Baiguate is VERY nice atmosphere, and even if you don't use the AI, I think the price is still reasonable...so not sure that it would be a "waste". Even if you just ate breakfast there, and maybe a supper or two during the time you're there you still may like it better.

have fun. Make sure you get to Constanza also. STELLAR views on the drive to a waterfall there called Salto de Aguas Blancas.

Thanks for all your help - we ended up deciding on the Hotel Pinar Dorado. Great price and includes breakfast. When we get back, I will let everyone know all about it!

You are most welcome, Susan. If you all like to play golf, give me a beep at 478 5457 and maybe we can enjoy a round at one of the nicest places up there. Just leave your number and I'll get back to you...
