Cecilia Garcia, the famous Dominican singer who now lives in Miami, was one of the first to complain she had been transferred to vote in Santo Domingo, while she registered to vote in Miami. After García complained, several others that find themselves in the same position have complained. Among these, lawyer Sabrina de la Cruz says that around 2,200 Dominicans who had registered to vote in Canada were transferred to vote in New York.

The JCE says there is nothing it can do, that the voting list can no longer be changed.

The JCE has posted a link, where Dominicans living in the Dominican Republic and abroad can verify where they are assigned to vote.

In May, the president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE, Julio Cesar Castaños Guzmán had practically written off the possibility of Dominicans voting abroad. It took New York legislator...

Not understanding at all. Do the Dominican expats have to come here to vote? Do they do it online or by snail mail?
They can vote in certain places but a crap shoot if the vote counts. In the JCE patron it says where each natural citizens can vote. You cannot get around that. It doesn't matter anyway - your question is irrelevant in base of any elections results.

The link to check where one is registered doesn’t work. Does anyone have a valid link? Mr AE would like to verify that he can vote in NJ, where he is registered. We’re now thinking he’s one of those switched, because at Matilda’s memorial Dolores’s husband checked and said Mr AE was registered in Juan Baron, San Cristobal (someplace we have no connection to). At the time, we thought it was an alternative voting place, as he wanted to vote in the municipal elections since we were in DR. Now we’re thinking he can’t vote in the presidential election because he’s not in DR.

PLD is not going without a fight.
Where do you think all of this Covid1984
money thats pouring in from abroad, be
it loans or donations, is going to be
spent on. Maintaining a firm grip on
power through bribes and kick backs
or on the sick and the needy?

Dominicans in Canada will vote in New York and those in England will vote in France
  • The JCE explains the situation that affects a total of 2,700 registered people
The Central Electoral Board (JCE) explained this Wednesday that the decision that voters who are registered in Canada and England vote in New York and France, respectively, was given because the authorization of said territories occurred outside the legal period established for those purposes.

Mario Núñez, National Director of Elections, explained that by the expiration date of the term for the establishment of foreign precincts on June 5, Canada had not authorized the voting of Dominicans abroad in its territory, which is why the JCE had to locate those voters in Albany, New York, as being the closest city to Canada. He also stated that said information was "served to the political parties in a timely manner, that is, we were all aware of this process."

He said that Canada has 2,200 registered voters who join the registered voters in Albany, for a total of 3,600 people, distributed in 6 electoral colleges. "Those voters who were registered in Canada, but who are registered in the Albany, New York register, were distributed within those registers until June 13, that is, the JCE after having set a deadline on June 5, June, it was extended until June 13 and still on that date, Canada had not released the authorization for the vote to be carried out ”.

He specified that the JCE “was informed of the decision of Canada on June 18 and 5 days had already passed, since the foreign registration was printed and, in fact, when the authorization arrived, the registers were already prepared in the suitcases that they were going to be destined to the electoral colleges of New York ”.

He also explained that when the authorization from that country arrived, "we could not at that time remove those voters to enable them there, because the logistics were set up and that implied readjusting the registry to enable them in Canada and exclude them from the city of Albany."

Finally, he declared that, in the case of England, there is a similar situation with its 500 registered voters and that, as of June 5, "that country had not authorized the voting of Dominican nationals, for which reason several political parties agreed with That this vote should take place in France, because in logistical terms it was easier and, in response to that request, the JCE welcomed that the voters registered in England vote in France, where 884 voters vote, for a total of 1,384 voters, distributed in 3 electoral colleges ”.

It is not foolishness. It is their version of a well conceived plot to attempt to steal something.

Exactly what Mr AE says. They don’t want those abroad voting, because they believe they’re supporting Abinader.

Something tells me he may have used a bit more colorful language than you or I did.
