Don't anybody dare to thank the People involved in rescuing the injured and dig out the Dead under the rubble.
Garbage turning over Garbage !!!!! There are already hundreds of videos circulating from inside the location, taken during the "rescue mission".
Videos than could have been taken only by firefighters or other rescue personal. Videos that have been taken a long long time ago after this location was sealed off completely. Images of Dead Body's on top of people buried alive etc. Before i would investigate the owner or the Contractor of this Building, i would hunt down these animals and have them executed. How low you have to be that you dare to take this images and and publish them while you have the task of saving lives.

There are couple of news reporters telling people via their Instagram accounts to please remember the families of the victims and not to publish any photos. And to be careful of the comments. Right now, they (the victims, families, etc) deserve respect.

Aw, that's so very kind of him. Considering the clientele, no es mi culpa won't cut it this time. Perhaps the passports of the owner(s) and contractors responsible for the modifications made to the structure should be suspended for the time being.

Usually he is there on Mondays when someone well known is singing, in this case Rubby Pérez. The only times he isn’t there is when he has to travel out of the country as it was this time.

After saying he was rescued early today, they now say it is not true ☹️

His daughter was also saying to the press that he was found alive. She was probably repeating what was said to here at the scene.

Later she was confirmed that he died in the rubble and she fainted.

As tragic as this event was it hopefully serves a purpose.
There is construction going on everywhere in DR, be it new structures or remodels. And the majority are not supervised by qualified engineers.
It seems certain the roof was not designed to span the nightclub with the loads it carried or the construction was so poor that it didn't follow normal standards.
Maybe the DR will actually require engineers to inspect construction not just 'maestros' who have little structural knowledge.

Cabarete, DR
Looks like the owner was already in Nevada (according to social media). The 'history' of the building posted in a certain social media website is alarming so I won't repeat it here. The number of deaths has also climbed a lot, I won't go into details respecting keepcoming's request. @CristoRey your prediction has sadly come true

Guarionex Estrella, son of Eduardo Estrella has been confirmed to be among the victims. Source : https://hoy.com.do/tragedia-del-jet-set-confirman-muerte-del-hijo-de-eduardo-estrella/

Same page has a announcement from Grupo Popular :
“Grupo Popular, S. A. informa con profunda tristeza el fallecimiento, en el día de ayer, de los señores Eduardo Grullón, su esposa Jhoanna Rodríguez, su hermana Alexandra Grullón, su esposo Eduardo Guarionex Estrella Cruz, y la colaboradora Stephanie Avendaño Patricio, según informaciones brindadas por las autoridades correspondientes en el lugar de los hechos.”

I do not know the victims but I will pray for their families and loved ones they left behind. Nobody deserves this, regardless of being rich or poor. 🙏

Post #7 and #8 note that’s the internal structure of the building was changed and it experienced a fire in 2023. The removal of internal structural pillars and the weakening of concrete blocks and mortar by exposure to fires would have seriously compromised the structural integrity of the building. Basically creating a time bomb waiting to go off.

It will be interesting to see if the investigation points the finger at those two possible causes. I doubt if they will come up with one specific cause. One thing for sure, the DR media will remain in hyperdrive because of the loss of the high profile citizens and the high total number of deaths. This is not going away quickly. All media outlets in Canada are still covering the disaster.

Chico, your suggestion is a good one, but it will cost more money and time to correct problems found by engineers during the construction phases. Contractors don’t like spending extra money and time and we know there are standards but not all contractors adhere to them. I don’t think the change you suggest would be implemented.

One thing I would question is, given that the DR is situated in an earthquake zone, was the building constructed to cope with quakes? I know a quake didn’t occur when it collapsed but even small tremors over time would weaken the structure to the point where collapse was inevitable. Especially if internal support structures were removed to create a more open space.
