That’s correct. When disasters of this type involving a large loss of life occur in North America, multi agency forensics investigations are carried out after the dead and injured are removed and rescued, before the debris is removed. Not the case in the DR.
Considering the mass amount of people under a concrete roof that collapsed ,there is no choice but to remove!

I agree but that doesn’t stop investigators doing initial forensic work as the debris is being surgically removed to rescue the injured and retrieve the dead as long as it is safe to do so. That wasn’t mentioned in the information released so far. Having a single engineer look for clues after all the debris has been removed limits his ability to determine the cause.

Do you know what I find odd? Today is Friday.

It's been only 4 days since that roof collapsed. 96 hours.

This is from yesterday's DT article:

"Restoration work, led by the Ministry of Public Works, is already underway to repair the damage and return the nightclub and surrounding zone to normal."

This has got to be the worlds fastest clean up after a disaster ever.

Wow! Assuming the DR media report is true, it’s just another indicator of the government's concern for the safety and sanctity of human life in the DR. I can’t begin to imagine what the relatives of the deceased will think about this announcement as they bury their dead.

That isn’t a government owned property… yet. Yesterday at 7pm this appeared in Hoy.

Didn't hey just recently announce that an investigation with engineers abroad would be brought in to investigate what happened. How can they assess anything if the damage is repaired. Or the govt does not even want to investigate? Back home, that whole site would be a no-go zone for profound investigation.

Not an unexpected response given the government’s actions or lack of actions the past four days. The last line sums up the situation beautifully. It’s not a political battle, it’s a war for human dignity. KC opined it wouldn’t affect the President Abinader’s legacy. I beg to differ. The biggest deadliest disaster in modern DR history and this is the approach his government is taking? The DR history books will not judge him kindly. If he is politically smart, he will try to tun this around quickly but I suspect that won’t happen. He is acutely aware of the failings of his various government agencies responsible for public safety.

You would have to be very naive to not believe the fix is probably in based on today’s announcements. Sadly, if it is in, this will all fade into the background of DR life in a month, maybe two, and the stoic citizens will get on with their lives. History won’t forget.

The fix is in?? This is a tragic accident with a tragic outcome. Would it make you feel better if someone was hanged, drawn and quartered. Of course, people will get on with their lives. However, they will never forget their friends and family.

I expect accountability, recommendations, and actions to prevent this from happening again. The same things you and I would expect as North Americans familiar with proper investigations. I would expect it even more if one of my family members was killed or injured as a result of negligence. It goes without saying the families of the deceased will never forget . Neither will DR history books. Nor should they.
