Delegates of the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) reelected José Ignacio Paliza and Carolina Mejía as president and secretary general of the party for the next four years on Sunday, 15 May 2022 during the party’s 21st Ordinary National Convention. Jose Ignacio Paliza is the Administrative Minister of the Presidency and Carolina Mejía is the mayor of the capital city, National District (Santo Domingo).
The president of the PRM electoral committee, Public Works Minister Deligne Asención said that the elections occurred in a normal way. Former President of the Republic, Hipólito Mejía said: “I ask the militancy that we remain united. Our unity is guaranteed and must be guaranteed.
