This weekend, 86 year old Julian Javier will be inducted into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame. Julie is a native of San Francisco de Marcoris. I can remember listening to Cardinal broadcast as an 8 and 9 year old by Harry Cary. "Julian Javier eats left-handers for breakfast." He was on the 1964 and 67 World Champion teams.:love:

As a child, Julián Javier was my favorite player, and he played for las Åguilas Cibaeñas, my favorite team.
Then, after watching the '68 World Series on TV, I became a Cardinals fan. Javier was eventually traded to the Cinci Reds, and so did my allegiance.
I've remained a Cinci Reds fan ever since... thanks to Javier.

Growing up in Central Illinois you were either a Cardinal or Cub fan. I am a Cardinal fan. I remember more the Cardinals of the 70's and later being I was born in 62 but always heard of Julian Javier. I joined the Peace Corps DR in 87 and eventually landed in a campo near Castillo and moved to SFM working on a solar energy project. In late 1988 the US ambassador visited a few of the Peace Corps sites/projects in the area including mine and we all ended up at Julian Javier's house in SFM for lunch. It was a nice experience and a privilege to be invited to his home.
