I read the post and comments about mountainannie. I think the moderator seriously should consider removing here from the forum. I think a forum is to give decent information and not lies and rumors.

I find much that mountainannie posts to be interesting and informative. If you do believe that she is posting lies and rumors, then you can dispute her. There is no place for censorship here, in my opinion.
MA is writing about Las Terrenas, but it is only nonsense. She is making up all those smokey theories and it is actually very misleading. I don't approve of censorship, however it needs to be stated that she's totally off the mark. Basically every word she writes about Las Terrenas is BS. I'm here full-time since 18 years, multilingual, multinational (Dominican & others). I know all the folks she mentions. No censorship, but awareness. That's the idea.
If you disagree with something posted here, take the time to respond to that post and point out exactly what you feel is wrong and why. We are adults and can make up our own minds based on the facts presented. Blanket statements such as "every word is BS" neither advances your argument or provides the correct info.

Talking about "blank statements"..... Then ithink the moderator should have a chat wit Mountainannie. Just read all here posts. That is 67 years of BLANK STATEMENTS. So take a look where the problem is!!!
Who cancels a trip of 20+ people because of responses on a public forum ?
There are other forums, instead, he may have decided to check on tripadvisor or the likes.

Tony and Squat, since you both live there, please give us YOUR recommendations for the OP. Annie isn't there in person, although she has many friends she's probably spoken too - if you're there, your opinion counts double.
I agree with Cdn_Gringo, just saying she's wrong doesn't help anyone. Maybe donP can chime in. Someone posted a US Embassy warning about visiting the area too, so it's obviously not all hunky-dorry there.

it seems you are the super moderator, so i think you should take time to read all the bs annie is writing. The issue is not giving the correct information the issue is that there is somebody in the forum just making a real mess and nobody seems to have the balls to say something because she is a nice old 67 lady who likes to write...

I agree with you that a lot of this is mis-information and certainly does not help the original poster who has already reserved a large villa in Coson. Try answering the questions as directly as possible and do not keep adding things that side track the poster. Perhaps this villa has it's own generator? I am familiar with a lot of the Coson coastline and there are some very large villas that have many creature comforts. I wouldn't try to discourage the original poster to reconsider. As an example, there is no comparison between Coson and a hotel mentioned on Playa Poppi. I do agree that renting a villa at Playa Las Ballenas would probably been a better choice, Also flying into El Catey would have been easier, but that is not the info that the original poster was asking about. He said he stayed in LT last year and was familiar with the lay of the land. Live and learn.

The recent and indeed underlying current problem is targeted against the supplier of electricity and perhaps elements of the resident French community but certainly not against tourists.
Coson is an excellent choice but the poster should check that you he has back up generation.
A typical taxi fare (controlled by unions) is US$200 from SDQ so you must seek alternative arrangements in advance.
I have referred your mail to a American colleague in Santo Domingo who specializes in making arrangements for group of visitors to the DR especially transportation.

Different people can have extremely different perspectives on the same thing. Rather than remove this person or that one, it seems to me to be better to just let those reading the various posts decide what the truth actually is.
I agree. Every thread on this forum have those who get off topic with info that is neither relevant or factual. The original poster always has the option to wade through the BS and or send a PM to someone who seems to be on point with helpful info.
