Leonel Fernández mother died a few minutes ago. She was recently operated and was recuperating at home quite well. Yesterday she fell and was taken to the Abel González clinic in Piantini and placed in intensive care. She died this morning.

As a side note, one time when Leonel was president she heard a criticism of his rule and was bothered enough that she went to the National Palace to punish Leonel in the presidential office. That's probably the only time in this hemisphere where a president is punished by his mother while in office.

The funeral will start this evening at Blandino on Lincoln Ave at 6:30pm.

Tomorrow, July 22 the funeral mass with the body present will take place at 3:00pm.

Also tomorrow, she will be buried in the Cristo Redentor Cemetery at 4:00pm.
