I have seen people living for free in the US - rat - infested, shared quarters, freezing in winter, queues to get food, areas with many criminals, no decent sidewalks, clinics and emrgency facilities with hour long queues and past the original free handout of medicine stupid prices at the chemists. Many people have noticed that the Salvation Army never allows cameras inside its facilites. Mine was conviscated when I had a meeing with a British person. They returned it by post minus film.
Filth, squalor, smell is the norm.

Ringing bells at Xmas may be the image but the reality is much different.....

Living costs in the DR are a fraction of that in the US. A newcomer was sayng that he gets 80 mpg + from his motorcycle whereas the car in the US , almost essential in much of the US, returned only 18 mpg. Also capital, depreciation, insurance are so much less...

who eats seaweed salad in the US and cooks a lb of Rice per month on a solar powered Rice cooker does not save anything when moving to the DR, because the Person had the same survivalist crap at home and can of course do the same here on the Island, on ly bthat the Installation of the Solar system will cost here on the Island of course much more than the same thingy woul have costed at home before such Move.

I know Guys who live in Germany on a Harz 4 Budget and spend per Month no more than 200 Euros, I met Guys in the US who pushed in Central DC Shopping Carts which didn't cost them anything anymore(they paid for that before as long as they've been Tax Paying Law Obying Citizens),
but where do you wanna tell me that the same would be for the Same Persons Cheaper here in the DR???
and don't forget that they firstly need to spend/Invest Money to get their Papers done and by a Flight Ticket etc before they even can start to join your Paradise.

There are people living on the streets, there are people who still have shelter but no money to pay for heating or food...

I doubt you facts with regard to many countries in Europe. Refer to and talk to people in charities etc. that deal with this problem. Those that are intentionally homeless in the UK anyway have free access to shelters in periods of cold weather - defined as night temperatures dropping below 0 degrees. Homeless people have the rights to benefits including housing benefits, medical services, use of libraries, advice etc. etc. . In much of Europe including South UK even if sleeping in the open the chances of freezing to death are quite minimal because it just is not cold enough.
Hostels and nightshelters - Shelter England

In the parts of the UK I have lived anyone in need could apply via the police or shelter organisation and some accommodation would be found.

In many parts of the UK there is much sheltered accommodation for persons who have difficulty managing - this is on a permanent basis, I have visited some quite recently and although not luxurious basic comfort and amenities are very good.

I think there have always been people sleeping rough. Some are anitsocial ; others have numerous problems.

If you earn money in dollars, then yes, living expenses in DR are lower than in the US. If you earn in Pesos, like most dominicans do, then absolutely not. There's no discussion to be had here regarding this subject.

DR's #1 problem has never been to fix it's problems, it's been to identify them correctly and THEN applying a worthy solution, and this argument here is a perfect example of people not knowing wtf they're talking about. I'm appalled at anyone that can make that ridiculous claim and still try to say that they lived in DR for more than a few years, unless of course, they're part of the DR 1%, lol.


Dominican meat being poor quality? WTF???? Also, the freedoms that you have in DR put the USA to shame. The US has become a police state and so overtaxed that it might as well be socialist.

The Dominican meat is not of poor quality to that of the US, it's simply real and unaltered meat!
The US uses chemicals and what not to tenderize the meats, going to extremes as to immobilize the cows from birth to obtain very "soft" texture in their meats (clearly you don't see that type of animal torture in the DR).

Even the color of the meat is assisted in the US... All approved by the FDA...


Large meat enterprises in the US take an approach that even provides specific feed for their cows, which are loaded with God knows what to achieve those "quality" type meats you so much love.


The problem lies in that most, if not all, Americans and other foreigners grew up knowing and tasting only that type of altered meats and have come to see it as the real meats, which they're far from...

Why bother buying frozen chicken or recently thawed from a supermarket in the DR, when you can go and get a super freshly killed one from the source?

I will be a bit more graphic, since sometimes people don't really know where their food is coming from, specially American food.
