Accused of being too cheap I have conservative quotes. But what you say is true in many areas.

Get baking - use up those free coconuts!

You need a hand grater and most of you have maids - get them grating! Low cost of living with free coconuts!

Now if this does not attract people to moving to the Dominican Republic I don't know what will. Free coconuts!!! Throw in a chicken and the DR will have to close its borders.

Wait! That looks nothing like a solar cooker. That looks like a - gasp - regular kitchen.

You know, between that, and splurging 40 pesos for a coconut on a tropical island, I'm starting to think Yappy's not on the up-and-up.

What if yappy's really a Richard Branson type, and lives a overly indulgent consumption-laden lifestyle featuring fetching hostesses serving up ding-dongs and champagne from the bubbly fountain?

I am going yappy style...

We bought ourselves 3 chickens, and an egg WITH TASTE now costs me 3 rds.

Free mango's, avocados, coconuts, naranja agria, etc...

According to the law, I own the free roaming cow which I hit with my car, so perfecting my aim...

Budget of 200$ per month is perfectly feasable

He's "Al Gore Green"!
Says the "PC" stuff, lives the "Energy Hog" lifestyle!
Don't worry "Y", that 55 gallon drum will be on the way soon enough.
You can make methane with the "Leftovers"!

3rds! Do you know what I could do with 3 rds?

Pay farmer 2rds for an egg, then sit on it for a few weeks (or just put next to solar cooker). After a time, you get a chick.

It takes time for chick to turn into chick-en, so I feed bit of free coconut to it.

Go back to farmer, rent rooster for one night for 1 rds. Put chick-en and rooster in room, turn on Teddy Pendergrass musics. Soon after, you have many, many eggs, filled with chicks!

One day, you can explain to Brugal family how you started your chick and chick-en empire, and how they can distill their rum with solar cookers....

One flaw in your plan...

1 chicken, 1 rooster, 1 night = 1 egg...

Better plan...

Pay farmer mofongo meal at local restaurant for him and his wife (140rds) + bottle of rum (small) 129rds...
Let rooster loose on his chickens... free or charge rooster for fun...
Buy eggs from farmer next day at 2rds...

Sit on them... much more productive to sit on 40 eggs then one...
Get chicklets...
Continue to old plan...

Much more return this way, with minimal investment...

my Maids, Nannies, Gardeners etc etc prefer to eat the Free good Beef and Pork and Fishes over Free Coconuts,
you couldn't tease 'em anywhere with free coconut bakery.

I do not know if this was asked yet....
I heard about how expensive it is to live a comfortable/middle class life in this country.
My question, what if you purchase your home outright and find a cheap used car?
With no mortgage and car note can you still have a middle class lifestyle on $2,000-$3000 usd per month?

You can go fishing from the shore for free fish...... Mostly small. But if you buy fresh water fingerlings and have a tank or pond they can be fed scraps till they are large enough to eat. Tilapia eat vegetable matter. Such as algae. Algae growth can be encouraged by such items as dog poop.

coming home very late has the advantage that the Fisherman also can eat yummy chicken once in a while, no need to "steal" 'em with a "miow", they just get trapped under my Truck with a "bump", ha ha ha.

recommending such make sure to explain those Folks also that they should know about the 2500-3000 different Reeffishies we have around our caribbean Reefs/hanging out at our Beaches, as a good number is not without dangers when touching them and some are quiet poisoneous on Touch and/or their Meat.
after a short while eating too much Seafood it get's very tiresome,
I know a Guy who exchanges a darn Lobster or fresh Mahi just to get a good piece of Beef on the Plate, lol.

living/maintaining your own home without motgage and driving/maintaining a Car already paid for means with 3KUS$ per Month you can live very comfy.
Mid Class?
I don't know if it is "Mid Class", depends what mid class for you means.
here on the Isle Mid Class starts with 2 large SUV's in the Garage, not older than a couple years of course, and Gardener and Maid and Nanny in da House, to maintain such house and vehicles and employees would not be possible with 2-3K per Month, but it is enough to live very comfy in a own small house(a large own house requires also large Maintenance costs of course) and driving a small used Car.
