Punta Cana is for grocery shopping etc no more expensive than the Cities.
we have here some of the usual supermarkets like SuperPola, Nacional and Llama, fruit stands for veggies and fruits all around.
sure, if you live at a condo in the middle of Condominium-City El Cortecito, then the fruit-trucks etc have their prices a bit "adjusted" to the Non-Dominican Appartments Neighbourhood, lol.
as a Foreigner, new to town, you always pay your addy, Islandwide.
count as living costs what you would need for the same level of living back home(US, Canada, Western Europe), it is more or less what you will also need for living in DR.

I've watched most of the videos from this site. This is one of the more useful ones, though the site owner isn't in it. He does the promo videos to sell property in the Cabrera area for the retirement demographic. Most YouTubes are him driving around droning on for 15 minutes.

I never had much craving for sweets in the heat aside from the occasional batida.. and yeah, if you drink beer AND sweets, you've got to do a lot of walking to keep the pounds off. What's a 2 liter Coke cost?

if i remember correctly the 2.5 liters coca cola bottles a couple days ago been 67.- pesos per 2.5 liters.

That, a fifth of Brugal and some dominoes makes for a nice afternoon on the beach. I saw some YouTube where a guy said you need about $2000/week as a tourist. I don't spend much after dark..

He was some monger talking about staying at Rocky's for $25/ night. Prob buying Johnny Walker and Sky for the chicas. I can blow maybe $1000/week IF I do day tours.. NYC thinking where $500/night at a club is business as usual.

Wow, is that a pound of dried, uncooked past for 28 pesos ? Here, that would be 56/58 pesos, if we were paying in pesos. 1 loaf of sandwich bread 35-50 pesos ? That would be 84 pesos. And on both of these, I'm rounding down.

AND, that Dominican "pasta" is worth every peso, IF you want to eat tasteless mushy crap.

"GO ITALIANO" IF YOU WANT ANYTHING WORTH EATING.

CCCCCCCCC,
that's the Dominican Princesa brand i buy.
anyways, talking Dried Pasta, it has no taste, i would not like it with any taste,
as the taste comes by the sauce made for the Pasta, would be bad to get that bothered by a "pasta taste".
cheap Dominican brands you get the spaghetti packs per lbs for 12-16 pesos per pound, i found the Princesas suitable for 28.- pesos per lbs of spaghetti(yes, same price per lbs for their different pasta variations of different forms/colors/lengths), you can also get imported spaghetti brands for 50-100.- pesos per pound. i tried most of them over the years, the more expensive ones did not provide any tastewise or other advantage, so since a long while i stuck myself to the middleway priced Princesa brand. important is the stuff to make the correct sauce for a real Pasta, and that stuff is completely fresh and super cheap available all around here.(for everyone, not just for me with the homegrown stuff on da Finca, lol).
