Can anyone tell me what type of potatoe is locally grown in DR that is yellow inside, on the starchy side, they are very creamy when baked or mashed, are very large, and a slight on the sweet side:confused::confused:

Trying to get them in the states...really craving it and won't be back for a while:mad:

Its not a yucca, batata or sweet potatoe...the skin is light brown, and they are usually heavily covered in dirt, they require a good washing first....they are pototoes...example: Russet, Idaho, in the US...???

Definitely sounds like Batata to me

Think I may have anwered my own question with digging deaper into "Google Land"....•Daisy Gold - large potato with gold colored flesh and a light brown skin, good for baking, mashed, frying and roasting..........however they may call it something else...its not in the sweet potato aka batata family....

But thanks for the help....

This is the closest I've gotten tot he Dominican sweet potato, actually this is much better, is sweet and soft closer to the texture of sweet yams.

I know what you are talking about, when my wife first moved here we spent a lot of time trying to find foods that were to her liking. The closest thing we have found in the supermarket here is Yukon Gold, while not exact it is pretty close.
