The Presidency issued Decree 107-21 to extend the curfew measures through 8 March 2021.

These measures are Monday to Friday businesses need to close at 7pm and on Saturdays and Sundays at 5pm. There is a three-hour general mobility allowance.

The lockdown hours seem to have controlled the spread of the disease. Despite the widespread mobility throughout most of the day, the spread of Covid-19 in the Dominican Republic has been dropping significantly in the past four weeks and the positivity rate, now at 13%, is on a downward trend.

The "lockdowns" haven't controlled the spread - it has only been that the disease is running its natural course and Canadians and Europeans are no longer coming.
Now with the weather warming and vaccines beginning to arrive in DR and elsewhere the government has a choice, continue watching businesses fail and tourism remain well below normal or roll the curfews back to a decent hour (10 or 11 PM ?) and make it 7 days a week.
Leadership is making balanced decisions and it is time to let the economy rejuvenate especially now in the headlights of runaway inflation

I have neither seen, nor heard of any additional restrictions or warnings put in place for this Saturday, 27 Febrero.
Could this in itself be a slight loosening of restrictions/nanny state?
Speculative question, not to be misinterpreted as a rumour.
