A new battery? Or a real watch? It might be hard to find some specialists in swiss watches here. Maybe en la Duarte.

In Charimicos.....walking down the main street , on the left side , about 3 blocks in, I believe it is a corner store with watches in the window.

I'm familiar with the store in Charamicos, and you can have a battery changed there. If my watch needed "looking at" as the OP suggested, to Puerto Plata I would go.

Replacing a battery is not considered a watch repair. No place like Home could comment what he is looking for. A battery or a service for his mecanical watch (winder or automatic).

I'm sure I need both, battery and repair. The last time I was in POP, that shop was closed. I used them often when the dad was still alive, good work. I'll take a look next time I'm in POP. Thanks

Did you leave your quartz watch a long time with a dead battery in the DR?
I hope the best for you but consider it damaged.

This is news to me.
I thought that with cell phones watches were a thing of the past, other than smart watches which are much more than just a watch.
Guess not.

Try Christoph at the Phone Box in Sosua - his small shop is in the right hand corner where the Orange shop used to be which I think is called Plaza Colonial. He was a watch/ clock maker before he came here to the DR.

Watches are definitely not a thing of the past. Especially for men, it's their jewellery and status symbol. During the pandemic, used prices skyrocketed whilst the watch factories were closed.

Of course I'm talking about high end Swiss brands: Rolex, Breitling, Omega, Patek Philippe, IWC etc

While its true what you wrote, it makes no sense to me. You have a phone, a watch is redundant.

While I wish I could afford a Submariner, or even a Seiko SKX007, or anything by horology's Holy Trinity, I do recommend Citizen watches with the Eco-Drive technology. These watches harness energy from any light source, natural or artificial. A rechargeable lithium-ion cell stores the energy.

I own a couple, and cost less than US$140.00 each at TJ Maxx.
No battery replacement and/or service needed yet... 3 years later.
