Looking for a watch repair shop in Sosua
Don't know of any in Sosua. Your best bet is Soler Jeweler on Calle Beller in Puerto Plata. Once you walk in and see the jewelers in the back, you know you are in the right place.
In Charimicos.....walking down the main street , on the left side , about 3 blocks in, I believe it is a corner store with watches in the window.
I'm familiar with the store in Charamicos, and you can have a battery changed there. If my watch needed "looking at" as the OP suggested, to Puerto Plata I would go.
The watch repairman is Carela and he has moved from charamicos to down pedro clisante #45 - Grupo Cruz building.
I'm sure I need both, battery and repair. The last time I was in POP, that shop was closed. I used them often when the dad was still alive, good work. I'll take a look next time I'm in POP. Thanks
Did you leave your quartz watch a long time with a dead battery in the DR?

Try Christoph at the Phone Box in Sosua - his small shop is in the right hand corner where the Orange shop used to be which I think is called Plaza Colonial. He was a watch/ clock maker before he came here to the DR.

Watches are definitely not a thing of the past. Especially for men, it's their jewellery and status symbol. During the pandemic, used prices skyrocketed whilst the watch factories were closed.
Of course I'm talking about high end Swiss brands: Rolex, Breitling, Omega, Patek Philippe, IWC etc
While its true what you wrote, it makes no sense to me. You have a phone, a watch is redundant.
I seldom pull my phone from my pocket, especially in public places. I feel naked without a watch.
While I wish I could afford a Submariner, or even a Seiko SKX007, or anything by horology's Holy Trinity, I do recommend Citizen watches with the Eco-Drive technology. These watches harness energy from any light source, natural or artificial. A rechargeable lithium-ion cell stores the energy.
