looking for cheap places to stay in Puerto Plata

hello, I have done the run of the resorts and I am looking for other places to stay that are right in Puerto Plata. Any suggestions? Feedback also if you have stayed in the suggested place. Thanx

There are many in the area. Stop at Sam's Bar(Hotel Castilla) and ask for Al. There is the Hotel Castilla(Us) 200 RD per night, The Jamison, as mentioned above. They have a great restaurant, location, and views. See the below link. Rooms start at US$30 for 2 persons.

Porto Fino Guest House, excellent! Clean A/C rooms and very friendly staff, good restaurant and pool right there (300 pesos / night). This place is right near Long Beach (Hermanas Mirabal #12 phone 586-2858); this is the sister hotel of The Lomar that Jim recommends. I also agree with Jim about Sofy's B&B; it's great! The owner Noelle is a wonderful person and serves an excellent breakfast (586-6411)!

Try Hotel Castilla if you want cheap 200 pesos per night with weekly rates available. Restaurant on site is Sam's Bar and Grill opens at 7AM serves the best breakfast on the northcoast. Dinners are great too!
