Are you on the North Coast? If so you can stop at the pool place across the street from the Sosua Ocean Village Entrance. Ask the guy at the counter and if he cannot help, ask to talk to Bob Boyd. He would know.

I thought Bob retired years ago and a Dominican now runs that business. But yes, try the places near where Sosua Ocean village is. One is next to El Choco restaurant.

Have you tried youtube? You can find videos on YT to fix just about anything.

Hayward pool heaters display various error codes to indicate specific issues that may arise during operation. Understanding these codes is crucial for troubleshooting and maintaining the heater effectively. Below is a summary of common error codes and their meanings:

Common Hayward Pool Heater Error Codes

CodeDescription
ACBlower vacuum switch closed.
A1Air switch circuit open before ignitor warm-up.
A2Air switch circuit open after ignitor warm-up.
A3Air switch circuit open after post-purge.
bDGas valve sensed "OFF" error; if this occurs 10 times during a call for heat, the control will lock out.
CECommunication error between control module and display interface assembly.
EEBad board; indicates a failure in the control board.
HFFlame present with gas valve not energized; indicates a potential issue with the gas valve.
HSMaximum return water temperature exceeded or rapid water temperature rise detected.
IFIgnition failure; typically indicates issues with ignition components.
LOWater pressure switch fault; often due to low water flow or pump issues.
PFVoltage polarity reversed or low voltage detected.
SFTemperature sensor input failure; may require checking sensor wiring or replacing the sensor.

Detailed Troubleshooting for Specific Codes

  1. LO Code (Water Pressure Switch Fault):
    • Ensure the pump is running.
    • Check for adequate water flow (minimum required GPM varies by model).
    • Inspect wiring connections for faults.
  2. HS Code (Water Temperature Sensing Error):
    • Verify that the inlet water temperature does not exceed 104°F.
    • Check for rapid temperature changes that could indicate low water flow.
  3. SF Code (Temperature Sensor Failure):
    • Inspect sensor wiring and connections for damage.
    • Replace the temperature sensor if necessary.
  4. IF Code (Ignition Failure):
    • Check the ignition components and ensure proper gas flow to the heater.
  5. CE Code (Display Failure):
    • This may require replacement of the display board if it is non-responsive due to moisture ingress.

Resetting the Heater

After addressing any error conditions, many Hayward heaters can be reset manually by cycling through the mode settings or by turning off and on again after a brief period
