Look for a Jewish fighting school, or Korean Tang Sa Doo, which is similar and incorporates the same type of striking.
Maybe ex-military ?

I know a few retired US military guys go to the gym on the top floor of the casino (Sosua), maybe some of them were special forces and had similar training and would be willing to give private lessons? I think that's as close as you'll get to Krav Maga here.

It's an idea. I did NOT know that the Casino (in El Batey?) had a gym!
I'll swing by and see about them.
Thanks for the idea!

There is a Krav Maga center in Santo Domingo. They have answered my "calls" by asking to put a class of 10 people together to consider sending an instructor over once or twice a week.
IF there is any such interest, let me know here or by PM.

Thanks!... J-D.

the closest thing you will get to martial arts instruction on the north coast: http://bujutsuinternational.com/

Santiago has a few good gyms as well which I like. None are air-conditioned to my knowledge and after an hour of doing rounds your heat tolerance starts to slip. normally 500 pesos for an hour of private instruction.

your post says north coast but I believe they have some trainers and "body shop" in Santiago which is a beautiful gym by any standard but is around 6000 pesos a month.

Thanks for that!
Maybe once AutoPista Del Ambar has become a reality and Cangrejo has a new bridge and we can travel "freely" again to other places than Nagua :D Santiago may be an option.
I have offered space at my new house for small groups to hire a trainer or practice off online teachers... and actually one long time member showed interest, but my house still uncompleted so, it looks like Fall maybe.

Thanks!... J-D.
