Mr AE always dumps the first one or two soaks.

To me, it still tastes like cough medicine, but I'm not much of a drinker to begin with

And you have to make sure the few mixes are made with the cheap stuff since it is going to get dumped.

Once cured, I think mamajuana can replace Viagra anytime. not that I need Viagra BTW

I find that the old fashioned heavy sweet malaga Manishewitz wine works really well in mamajuana. It's actually the only thing it's good for.

My Camereras insisted the wine has to be Campeone red wine in the mix of strange elixirs.,,
Eucch!

(I would prefer brake oil..)

thanks, chiri, i really liked the story but i did not see the actual recipe there?

it's nothing i would normally drink but i have taken an occasional shot in restaurants\bars. the taste is too strong for me to drink it casually in large amounts. but the bit in the article when jane writes about drinking it on the street straight from the lid reminded me of my youth and drinking vodka straight from the bottle in front of our local store so we would not be late for school. i'm getting sentimental.

i'm not fond of this drink myself but i heard that those sticks/bark have a bit of a bitter initial flavour and the first batch of mamajuana is not the best. apparently the more used that dried up stuff is the better the product. maybe this is why OP dumped it.

Hmm, I really like that taste and thought it was the part good for our little friends. Actually, my man-bottle just lost that bitter flavor and it tastes sort of .... Flat. I guess I'll try the wine recipe now whilst I look for new.

In our family we, once the mamajuana is cured, drink it with dark rum only. Mostly extra viejo but never, never with wine and honey. I have one bottle from 1998, it still gets beter and better and never have used honey nor wine in it.
