This is his grandson MDM16, some of your information is not correct,

This is his grandson Manuel
It's been a long time since I have logged to this site and I'm surprise there still people talking about my
Grandfather
Some of your information is not correct
My grandmother surname was "Soler"
Only 3 kids there is no son Victor
My grandfather was recuperating from surgery when Trujillo was killed
The family moved to Florida for 7 years then went back to the DR
My grandfather lived the rest of his life in the DR until his death
He did travel with my grandmother to NY and Europe
I have always heard about the child he had but it has always been denied
Never heard of the nick mane el pimpo....

Additionally, Ogre of the Caribbean, here are the answers to your questions:
* I cannot locate is specific death date, but it would be abt. 1977 or 1978. I am still digging.
* He was married to a woman named Ana Mar?a - I cannot find her surname, as of yet. Together their children included: Joselyn, Tony, Rafael & Victor.
* He impregnated a young woman by the name of Athenia Leonor De Pe?a, of which he long denied, however DNA was taken to prove the legitimacy of the child. Athenia birthed a little baby girl at 19 years of age. Athenia was the daughter of a politician in Trujillo's administration.
* His nickname was "El Pimpo".
* He was a very handsome actor, who was in a musical in 1939 in New York City, where he lived briefly with Ana Mar?a, Joselyn and baby Tony. Tony was born in New York City. MDM was filming, ''DI QUE ME QUIERES" with other well-known actors.
* He appeared in a number of Colgate toothpaste commercials.
* The surname of De Moya is of Basque heritage, coming from the Basque word, 'oi' meaning 'pastures'. Or more literally, 'of the pastures.'
* As for his treatment, that is questionable. He traveled a lot and I am not certain of how long he remained in the Dominican political scene after Trujillo's assassination. As far as I've gathered from documents, he boarded a ship with the young man who shot Trujillo, I believe in an effort of exiling him. As the young man ( a dissident student ) who assassinated Trujillo was never allowed into the Dominican Republic again. He was exiled to the United States.

I can share much more, this is just bits to answer or assuage your curiosity.

Re: Manuel de Moya

This is a response to this post (http://dr1.com/forums/showthread.php/30528-manuel-de-moya?p=1612960&viewfull=1#post1612960), particularly the part where he mentions the rumors of a child that has always been denied.

Just want to say that you should take that rumor seriously.

A quick anecdote.
There has been a similar rumor concerning one of the Espaillat branches from La Vega. The family has kept the rumor a secret, but es un secreto a voces. Many decades ago the head of the family had an affair with one of his maids and a child was born from that endeavor. Nothing was known about this even though the woman gave birth to a very light skin mulatto, but because of his blended looks perhaps didn't raise suspicion. Well, about 4 or 5 years ago the daughter of the guy born from that endeavor apparently learned about that secret that was kept from her and developed a desire to meet her real paternal grandfather. She went to their house and met him and some of his legitimate offspring and she insisted that he was her paternal grandfather. He denied everything claiming that it was another Espaillat, not him; but the young woman's grandmother and her father did confirmed to her that he was her grandfather, so she insisted. Supposedly he told her in front of his legitimate offsprings that he was not her grandfather, but that if she wanted to she can call him abuelo.

The irony is that the young woman looks just like him and even resembles some members of previous generations of Espaillat. Unlike her father, she has a very European look as does her two brothers.

Supposedly when the old man became sick and was interned at a clinic, even though she was not told about his state directly and was not invited, she went to visit him at the clinic. The rumors about that encounter is that he seemed happy to see her there and when she approached to give him a hug, he gave her an unexpected strong and long hug. I think he came to his senses and knew well what the truth is.

Shortly after that he died, not that long ago. Given the importance of the family, his death was published in many Dominican newspapers.

The legitimate offsprings have remained ambivalent about this because they believe their father when he denied it, but also because they think she and her father are after their money. I personally don't think she or her father are after that, even though they are of humble origin because the old man never recognized his illegitimate son. To this day she hasn't done anything to even remotely give the impression that she was after their money, but rather wanted to know who her grandfather was. They don't even sign with Espaillat, because for most of her father's life he has been resentful towards the Espaillat, so he always signed with his maiden last name. Since the old man died, they haven't been back in attempting to reconnect with the rest of the Espaillat. They all live close to each other too, because while many of the old man's legitimate offsprings live in La Vega proper, the young woman lives with her family near the Santo Cerro.

The big question now is how many more kids that the old man had with other maids he probably cheated with.

So, even if the rumors about De Moya's illegitimate son has been denied, don't accept that as the ultimate truth without investigating further what truly happened.

I'm not giving any more detailed info about who the old man was, because its a well known family and they want to keep this quiet. But, given that De Moya's are originally from La Vega too, if you ask around your family, you might figure out who it was. You might even know the exact Espaillat branch I'm talking about.
