I just stayed at that resort for four days. They had great service and the food was pretty good. Concerning record arrivals in the Punta Cana area, I am having a hard time believing that. The resort was only 50% full and on the way home to JFK from the Punta Cana airport, the flight was only about 40% full.
Depends on when you stayed, no ? I do want to 'experience' a AI some time in the future but for now, no.

Do you mind sharing how much you paid per night ? Thanks !

It was just last week. $423 per night. We had a swim up room which allowed us to swim from our room up to all of the different pool bars. The place was very clean and the food was good. We had a concierge who would call us every morning to ask us if we needed anything and would also check in with us during the day.

Nice ! Good service too. At $423/night it will have to be :D
But this is possibly why it was not crowded. which is good if you want a great experience, not so good for the resort

As you know, this resort closed and cease operations last November 2024 and then Hyatt came in and bought it out and now it's called Dreams Resorts & Spa's. Hyatt said the property will remain the same but with few changes.

New url: https://www.hyattinclusivecollectio...reams/dominican-republic/cap-cana-resort-spa/

One thing is sucks that they have disclaimer notice: Please note that this hotel is not currently participating in World of Hyatt and guests will not be able to earn points or tier-qualifying night credits, redeem points, or enjoy in-hotel benefits at this time.
One of the issues with this resort is the beach area or rather lack of it. Guests that stayed at Margaritaville used to complain about it. Rates are rather high even in the "slow period".

We stayed there a couple years ago. It was just after a 4 day Dominican holiday. The staff was still mostly in shock after catering to drunk wealthy Dominican's for 4 days. Overall it was OK. It had excellent margaritas.
