Marriott W construction started in Cabarete?

Cabarete
Also, Gaspar Hernandez is building new sidewalks downtown, why not Cabarete?

I've been told that by law it's the responsibility of business owners to construct/repair the sidewalks in Cabarete, hence the patchwork of different or non-existent surfaces. So that's the last thing the council would spend money on, should they actually decide to invest in the town's infrastructure one day to make it more attractive to visitors.

As somebody said earlier in this thread, hopefully the new Marriott W will put down some decent sidewalks outside their new construction, which is the only benefit I have seen so far from the Lifestyle development.

I'm just concerned about all the breakwaters/tidewalls/huge boulders being thrown into the bay in front of all of these hotels so that they have beaches. You can't mess with Mother Nature, and I wonder about the future of Playa Alicia/Playa Sosua.

It might be enjoyable to go to Cabarete if there was a bi-pass for the majority of traffic, and they fix the disastrous potholes between Sousa and Cab. Now I avoid it like the plague at night.

With my background in urban planning/urban land use, it seems to me that at some point, Sosua/Cab are going to need to consider building pedestrian overpass walkways like in SD. Crossing Rta. 5 can take 10 minutes, and is still risky. I speak as one who was hit on a Tuesday morning and had both legs broken. But that was years ago. Surely it's MUCH better now....jajaja.

Made me revitalize old thread about the existing non used pedestrian crossing in Cabarete center. There is another now in ruins outside the center, part of a failed project.

If some of the Marriott W visitors ever want to go outside their AI, they are on the right side of the road, on the beach.
I guess they do not need a pedestrian crossing, not at that location at least.

As Cabarete slowly developes into more non surf crowd, solving pedestrian crossing might be a good idea.
I used to cross barefoot running over the road, now at least I use shoes.

Sosua beach has got its policia acostados recently, which seems to cause it fair share of accidents on its own. At least on a main road where there was none before. Maybe works better when the maniacs get used to it, and some signs and lights are in place.
