Cruel?
I don't think so.
If they continue to remain in such a blossoming environment these wonderful people will likely meet the same fate...
are we bedder now?
So how should they get out? Sneak into DR? A bunch of school children and their Haitian caretakers. I'm sure if there was a way out for all of them it would have happened.

They need to move north. I can list a dozen cities that they would be ok. But they have to have the will and the resources to move the whole thing north.

Once there (assuming that actually happens), they need to shitcan the traditional school work and concentrate on a votech education.

Another shipment of long arms were discovered at the Port of Haina.

Take a close look at the picture of what arms they discovered. Scary stuff.

I wouldn’t refer to the seizure of 37 firearms as a, “significant blow to arms smuggling in Haiti“.

As predicted, it appears the Kenyans aren't having much success.
Agreed. It was easy to predict. They are sacrificial lambs sent by their government for the money and a promise from Biden to help the Kenyan government get an IMF bailout. The only thing they had going for them was their supposedly ruthless reputation. The gangs proved that was false very quickly. There‘s a big difference between shooting unarmed Kenyan civilians during riots and being shot at by seasoned, well armed, Haitian gangs.

I am sure that there are restrictions on the Kenyans on the amount of force they are allowed to use. ROE is probably clearly spelled out.

The Kenyans and the decent Haitian police (assuming they are there) need to stop playing by any rules.
NSP. I think the Haitian police gave up playing by the rules a long time ago in order to survive. The Kenyans never expected to meet such a high level of organized gang warfare, gangs who resort to levels of depravity against the civilian population even the Kenyans couldn’t imagine. Demoralizing to say the least.

When will it ever get better?

It won't.
The only thing that might alter the outcome would be the discovery of significant amounts of oil, or gold, or rare earth mineral deposits In Haiti. Similar to what’s happening now in the Ukraine-US deal for rare earth minerals. Haiti being close to the US, Trump might be interested in a resolution to access the resources he is focused on. There are rumours of oil but the current situation in Haiti limits further exploration of resources. The DR has gold and rare earth minerals. No reason to think they don’t exist in Haiti, Haiti being part of the same land mass. Pie in the sky Windy but one can hope.

You're right. My comment was really directed at the Kenyans and I should have so stated. My belief is that the Kenyans are under some type of UN rules of engagement. It should be shoot to kill.

I see no reason for such hopes. None at all. And time will tell on this as it has so far.

How long before the Kenyans leave?

We call them the Obama rules.
They should have gone in an nuetralized all of them by now. Failure to do so will most certainly come back to bite them in the ass. More dead Kenyan police officers coming soon.

As soon as the funding stops. We’re into a Federal leadership change for the party in power in Canada and an election shortly after that. Nobody has mentioned further funding for the Haiti Intervention. No one in the Trump administration including Trump has mentioned further funding so the clock is ticking on the Kenyan presence in Haiti.

What does Canada have to do with Kenyans in Haiti?
