Can anyone point me in the right direction to look at options for coverage while in the country. Looking at spending 6 or 7 months a year on north coast.

I buy mine in Canada from a company called Tugo. Depending on your age and preexisting conditions it would be best if you contact them direct. The plan starts at 15 months coverage for any 35 day trip. The clock resets as soon as I return to my home province. For stays longer than 35 days I buy a top up for however many days I plan to be away.

I would do a search on DR1 for insurance. There is a guy on here whose name I forget that sells insurance. I want to say it's DRPerson but I'm not sure now. You should be able to find it by searching though.

You can get insurance easily here for 6 months from us on-line.
A good plan is around US$55 less 5% for 6 months.
You can get it for as long as you want. 6 months would be about $300, as compared to blue cross which would be around $3,000 for some people , and has alot of denials for pre-existing conditions.
There are some issues with places that don't take cheaper plans. so we advise against it.
Also the better plans pay more so you don't have to worry as much about not having enough coverage.
Another thing to remember is that after 69 years it is hard to get any form of coverage so many people get it , and reduce the monthly payments while they are away say for 6 months to about US $18 a month.
If you pm me I can send some easy plan comparisons.
